The Hollow Hill

It seems to be an abandoned cave of the CotF (or Singers as I like to call them). The scene with one eyed Dondarrion stepping down from his Weirwood root throne screams Bloodraven in the Cave of the Singers. What Dondarrion has to do with Bloodraven, I have no idea.

I am still not sure if the cave is under High Heart being that the stumps have not grown new sprouts. I guess the weirwood can still survive in the dark. No sunlight needed (photosynthesis) to live, but maybe needed to grow? Otherwise the roots and stumps should have petrified by now.

Or the cave and the stumps are two different locations.

Yeah, now that we're talking about it, I'm not sure the hollow hill was beneath High Heart. I just sort of connected them in my head.

As to the similarities with Bloodraven, that's an awesome catch, aDanceWithFlagons. I've been wondering about the similarities between Bloodraven and the Kindly Man, but I hadn't made the Beric connection. Very interesting!

IIRC Weirwood doesnt petrify, once cut it lasts forever. It also lives forever unless cut down. I personally believe the cave is not under High Hill or if it is it was only recently discovered by the BWB. My reasoning for this is because any of the last times we see it Arya doesnt mention any smoke in the sorrounding area, and the Cave has a giant fire in the middle which exits through a huge hole in the ceiling.

It is said that a weirwood does not rot, it turns to stone. Then again, the items made from weirwood; bowls, doors etc., are not described as stone. What good would come from a stone weirwood bow?

If the stumps have not turned to stone -I don't recall if it is written one way or the other- then they may still be alive through their roots. I still think the cave and hill are different locations.

Now, I wonder if the BWB are using the cave since Stoneheart became the leader of the brotherhood. Or the hill and the Ghost of High Heart for info. Have they abandoned old gods network completely? It would be cool if someone from the BWB found some interesting artifacts in the cave.

I strongly doubt the Hollow Hill where Clegane's trial was held is under High Heart. The Journeys Map from tLoIaF shows Arya leaving the Inn of the Kneeling Man, traveling almost straight south past High Heart and Acorn Hall, arriving at Stoney Sept (where Clegane joins the party), then heading back north. The story takes them to the Hollow Hill (which is not marked on the map) for the Trial, then they continue north. Clegane follows them, confronting them the night after the battle with the Bloody Mummers at the small unnamed sept. Then they reach High Heart for the second time. The path is fairly direct, although it lacks some detail.

So we have, in order, Stoney Sept, the Hollow Hill, the unnamed sept, then High Heart, all on a somewhat straight route heading north.

Given the number of weirwood stumps atop High Heart, not to mention its name, we should assume it was a very special place for the CotF, perhaps even a political, religious, or ceremonial capital. If there is an underground dwelling beneath it, i would expect it to be something truly spectacular. The Hollow Hill of the Trial seems to be just a normal abandoned CotF settlement (though we have little to compare it to.)
