Playstation 4 Question.

I have some questions that need a longer area of exploration than is allowed on Amazon. I also don't want to sign up to the PS forum just for one question when no doubt people here are more than qualified to answer me. Hope people can help.

I use my PS3 to watch Youtube on the Youtube App. Does the PS4 have this?

I use my PS3 to watch the occasional Blue Ray, or DVD as I have no DVD player. Can you do this with the PS4

I use my PS3 to occasionally watch a TV show I downloaded from Laptop to USB. Can I do this with the PS4.

I watch ITV player on the PS3 occasionally. Can I do this with the PS4

I mostly play video games offline, I don't like playing online multiplayer sort of things.

I don't have a playstation plus account and I've been told that I will have to buy one if I want to use the online features, even if this is accessing PSN store to download games like TWD or Wolf Among us. That I need to buy this if I just want to buy an add on like a season pass to a WWE game. Is this true?

Thanks.

I use my PS3 to watch Youtube on the Youtube App. Does the PS4 have this? Yes. Or at least it's supposed to be coming very soon Autumn (northern hemisphere) 2014 I heard, so that is right now.

I use my PS3 to watch the occasional Blue Ray, or DVD as I have no DVD player. Can you do this with the PS4. Yes, the only thing PS4 does not support is CD playback. When it was initially launched you had to download a system update in order to activate Blu-ray playback. Not sure if that's still the case now with new PS4's.

I use my PS3 to occasionally watch a TV show I downloaded from Laptop to USB. Can I do this with the PS4. I think you can do this, but why bother? Just watch direct from your laptop (i.e. plug your laptop in to your TV, assuming your laptop has a HDMI port)

I watch ITV player on the PS3 occasionally. Can I do this with the PS4. No idea as I don't live in the UK, that's probably a PS3 App which may not be available on PS4 yet, I would assume it will come.

I mostly play video games offline, I don't like playing online multiplayer sort of things. OK

You don't need PSN+ to access the Playstation Store or buy stuff off the PS Store, nor to access Apps. You do need it to use online gaming for most games, however FTP online games (like Warframe) do not require PSN+, and some games require it partially. Like Destiny does not require PSN+ for the single player campaign even though it requires you to be online. I highly recommend PSN+ because you pay the cost of one new release game per year and you get over 36 games per year "free". If you keep your PS3 then you get "free" PS3 and PS4 games every month. In fact if you have fairly broad tastes in gaming you could theoretically spend the entire generation only playing games you get for "free" off PSN+ and thus never spend more than the cost of one new release game per year. That's a lot of saved money. The only reason not to sign up for PSN+ is because you're afraid you will spend too much time gaming because of the mountain of games you will have available. I now "own" over 20 games thanks to PSN+ and that's with only having signed up in March 2014. Those games include Tomb Raider 2013 (PS3), Bioshock Infinite, Dead Space 3, Puppeteer, Trine 2, Rainbow Moon, Fez and Velocity 2x. The only reason I didn't sign up for it when I only had PS3 was because I had no HDD space. Now that I am playing more on PS4 I've been able to free up HDD space on PS3 to be able to have several digital games downloaded at once.

Thanks.

This is what I know.

Edit: typos
