Hi guys and gals,

I wanted to oder my copy of this book, but now I am a little confused. I found two different edition on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.it/gp/product/0007580916/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H

http://www.amazon.it/The-World-Ice-Fire-Westeros/dp/0553805444

They cost different And also the number of pages is different ( 288 and 400)!

Can someone help me with this?

Thank you all for your kind answers.

I am going to buy an English edition, not an Italian one, as I read the series in English and I am not familiar with all the names Italian translators gave to places and people (besides finding some of them really ugly... Winterfell being Grande Inverno = Great Winter...).

I will wait, checking the number of pages, and see which one (USA or UK) to buy. My fear is that the "smaller" of them could have a very little font.

Thanks again!

I have mine on pre-order in Australia, which is only having the black covers shipped. Hopefully the page numbers are not too varied but it's not impossible; it depends on the formatting, size and layout, as well as whether or not they've different editors.

If I understand correctly, information has to be the same for one ISBN number, no matter where it is sold. So if one website (Amazon, in this case), gives one page number, but five other online shops give all give another page number, and those five are all the same, then I'd be almost certain that Amazon made a mistake.

A similar mistake occured when I wanted to order my book. I just called customer service to make sure. ;)

As raenys suggested, I checked directly on Amazon UK and Amazon US and I saw that the number of pages is the same (336) on both.

So it seems that the number of pages on Amazon IT are both wrong (288 and 400!) and I guess the difference in cost is due to the currency change.

I've also found out that they are also going to publish the Italian version later on, which I won't buy, and that it's going to be of about 500 pages ('cause Italian is more wordy than English).

I'm going to buy the less expensive English edition (US) since now I am sure they are exactly the same.

Thank you

There's one difference:

The US version doesn't have a dust jacket, but the British one does.

Less expensive? The respective Amazon websites say the opposite:

British version:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/World-Ice-Fire-Song/dp/0007580916/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1414156699&sr=1-1&keywords=world+of+ice+and+fire

14.95 pounds = (according to Currency Converter) 18.23 EUR

US version:

http://www.amazon.com/The-World-Ice-Fire-Westeros/dp/0553805444/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414156750&sr=8-1&keywords=world+of+ice+and+fire

29.98 $ = 23.64 EUR

I ordered the British (black cover) version mainly because it takes far less time to ship to where I live, but it also seems over 5 euros cheaper.
