Video Games - All Hail Warner Bros(!?!)

The Anti-Targ

Recommended Posts

According to the DA wiki, she'll leave the game for good at that point but Varric hints that she was probably able to escape. So not dead, but not in the game anymore either.

Hmm, I chose on the website to say that I gave her up, but I've never actually done that before (because I wanted to fight the Arishok), I was hoping she might show up and be a brainwashed devotee to the Qun or something.

On that note, DA: Inquisition comes out in less than 3 weeks! I'm pretty stoked, and I think I might go with an elf this time around. The saves I'm importing are as Queen of Ferelden and a mage (anti-templar) Hawke, but one of my favorite DA:O games was as a City Elf with a hatred of humans and church. I'm thinking about going that route again in DA:I

Anyone else already planning their games?

Charlemagne keeps eating my saves and I'm getting pretty tired of having to back them up and recopy them over every time I finish/start playing. Please present a patch Paradox.

ETA: Okay, the problem seems to be with having multiple Ironman games. Guess I'll stick to normal, then.

What happens if you let the Arishok take Isabella in DA:II? Do they immediately kill her, or do you see her again?

I did that in one of my DAII plays through (or is it play throughs?) I'm hoping something interesting will happen in DA:I with that choice. But the fact that you don't actually play as Hawke in DA:I means whatever effect that choice has on the game wouldn't have quite the same impact. I'd actually like to be playing as Hawke after the events of DA:II and see where that decision leads.

Perhaps if DA:I does well enough they might do an expansion pack where you do get to reprise Hawke. A man can dream.

I played a city elf, female warrior with two-handed weapon specialisation. It was fun running around with a giant weapon taller than the character I was playing.

I have too many plays of both DA:O and DAII to know what set up to bring forward. I enjoyed playing all the origin versions, though I the mage (human) origin story was probably my least favourite. I've just actually started another DA:O as a Cousland woman (Inspired by EA letting me get the PC version for free), but I haven't decided whether to complete it, or whether to marry Alistair and become queen. My character must have been adopted because she's got a distinctly African American look but my "parents" and "brother" are anything but.

Lols, mama Cousland's been sleeping around with some Orleasian minstrels. I actually just started another playthrough as well, I'm gonna make another Queen Antonia.

ETA: Antonia and her treacherous dog Octavian taking on the blight.

I am kind of looking forward to DA:I, but a couple things holding me back from getting really excited. Firstly it's a little pricey and the other is system spec. I really wish demos where still a thing, at least then I could check it out before lumping down £50.

Finally got my hands on an Xbone controller for my PC. It really is a nice controller, possibly even better than the 360's. And playing games with it from my couch now, I really can't tell a difference between a console and a PC; except that the PC's a lot more powerful. I'm pretty much fully converted to the master race now, the only thing left is that I do prefer controller gaming to mouse & keyboard gaming.

Usually anyway. I'm still going on the FF XIV free trail, and, although the game supports controller use, as an MMO there's just too many different possible inputs for it be fully comfortable. So I've stuck with the mouse and keyboard for that.

But when Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition come out, I'm gonna be all over that controller.

I'm playing around with the Tapestry in the DA: Keep and I'm running into a pretty big problem here with my set-up... I told it that my Warden is alive and well. I told it I romanced Morrigan. I told it that I executed Loghain and that Allistair is King. But its telling me that it is an invalid world state.

Basically, either Allistair killed the Archdemon or I did in this circumstance. Where's my dark pact baby?!!? I'm more than just a little upset with this.

ETA: I guess I'll set it up to the Warden having died. I would say that I'm more likely to see an Allistair cameo than a Warden appearance. Booooo.

ETA2: Nevermind... there was a tile later on the tapestry that was offscreen that allowed for giving birth to a god-baby. It also had an option for a human baby with the Warden though. How do you get that option in game?

There is another section for the dark ritual. If you put that your warden did the ritual, and took the final blow against the arch demon, you should be fine.

Yeah, found that eventually.

That's a lot of damn choices on that thing... and a lot of stuff I don't remember at all.

Seriously... who was Tallis and did I kiss her?!!?

On separate notes, I finished The Last of Us and the Left Behind DLC around 1:20 in the AM on Wednesday. The game was fantastic. Sure, the gameplay itself probably wasn't anything unique or groundbreaking; but it was very clean and had a great attention to detail. The story and the presentation of that story was amazing to me though. I don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like it.

My last update I said I had just reached Fall. I didn't know how Henry and Sam would leave my little party, but I figured they would... watching him have to kill his little brother and then himself, was not what I expected though! :stunned:

Then Winter hit and I had no idea what to expect. Joel fell on that spike and then it opened with Ellie hunting in the snow. I didn't know for sure if he survived or not. Thank God I had avoided all spoilers prior to that! The haunted look on Ellie's face after she hacked Danny the Cannibal to pieces was spot on.

Then the ending. When Ellie asked Joel if everything he said was true and replied yes, then Ellie looks at him and just says "Okay." Wow. I don't think I've had a story hit me like that from a video game ever.

Left Behind was fun. I really liked the situations where I was able to toss a bottle and set up fights between the infected and the hunters to clear them out for me; but I did feel it lacked a bit of emotional impact. I knew what was going to happen to Ryleigh and I also knew that Joel survived. So there wasn't as much invested there. Still had some great moments like Ellie and Ryleigh dancing in the mall and the pretend video game session.

I didn't allow the game to post to my Facebook, but I assume that if I had it would have posted the picture from the photobooth on my wall?

All in all, a great game that I will rank among my best gaming memories for a long time. I saw where Maisie Williams is attached to play Ellie in a potential film adaptation. Seems like she would do well, but it really felt like the part of Ellie was meant to be played by Ellen Page a decade ago.

Next up on my agenda is Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. I installed it today at lunch and read the "Story so far" bit on the main menu. I'm not sure how I feel about it... Sandinistas? Che Guevera? Costa Rica? Ugggh. I prefer my Metal Gear history to be mostly made up. Give me Zanzibarland and Outer Heaven. Don't try to make this somehow real. I also don't like all these things having been laid out in a mobile game that I had considered a side story at best (on a platform I never owned and therefore didn't play). It really looks like this is more essential to the plot than anything that happened in MGSIV. Ah well. As long as I get to sneak around and maybe hide in a box, I'll have a good time.

Yeah, I thought I was pretty damn thorough in both games; but it seemed like half the choices in Origins, and a quarter of the ones in II, I don't remember anything about at all. They didn't give a lot of cues to help you remember either.

So, I'm totally NOT being held against my will and trying to send a message here, but...

I think I might be interested in the new Call of Duty game. I haven't bought one of these pieces of shit since 'World at War' and they've degenerated from the awesome 'Modern Warfare' into absolute garbage.

But this new one has a sci-fi theme, and they clearly ripped off Titanfall's gameplay mechanics, which are as good a set of mechanics to rip off as any really. Not to mention that I think the Kevin Bacon tie in to 'House of Cards' is pretty cute and could be fun if they just rolled with it.

IDK, this one actually looks... fun.

Anyone else feeling not-apathetic about this game?

Romance Morrigan but refuse the ritual. She'll have a normal baby then.

The story in Ground Zeroes is as made up and fictional as all other Metal Gear games. It has nothing to do with real history, if I recall correctly. I played it when it was released.

One thing I'm wondering though is why they release GRound Zeroes as a prequel and then we don't get the main game until maybe even more than a year later. That's pretty shitty behavior from a gaming company in my opinion.

Good to know. We got back late from our Trick or Treating last night with the kiddos and I didn't get a chance to play. That prologue stuff just gave me some reservations.
