Veltigar
The Affair is a new series on Showtime. The showrunner is Hagai Levi, who also made 'In Treatment', which I haven't watched yet, but is praised for its great work on the characters. The main stars are Dominic West (The Wire) and Ruth Wilson (Luther). The show has already been gathering rave reviews. The AVclub gave the first season as a whole an A-, Slantmagazine gave it 3,5/4 stars, etc. Which is great, since the season starts so strong and we already now that it won't fizzle out towards the end. I'll include IMDB's blurb for the show: The psychological effects of an affair between a married waitress at a Hamptons diner and a teacher who spends his summer at his in-laws' estate on the island. I can't really say much about the first two episodes. I want to, but I would spoil things. If enough people are interested in this series, I'll convert this to a spoilerthread. What I can say about the two episodes that aired so far, is that the the acting is topnotch. And the writing matches the level of the actors. It's also really fun to watch and compare (if you have seen the episodes you'll understand). To top it all off, it has great opening credits. l2 0 5 5
Almost makes me want to re-order Showtime, because Homeland squandered that experiment.
Zorral
I saw the premiere when it streamed free on Showtime, and liked it quite a bit. I was left curious as to where it would go, but I'll have to wait to learn, unless you do your spoiler approach. Spoilers are always all right by me, particularly as I'll see the rest of series so much later, via netflix probably. Also, what spoils others, tend not to be what I focus on anyway. But that's just me, and others feel so differently!
Relic
Very interesting first episode. I really enjoy the unreliable narrator angle
Nictarion
Liked the first couple episodes. It's definitely an interesting format. Weird seeing McNulty and Rawls reunited again. Also glad to see Ruth Wilson in something else. She's great in Luther.
Theda Baratheon
I still need to watch Luther; I've loved Ruth Wilson since she played Jane Eyre.

Howdyphillip
This is probably turning into my favorite series this fall. I am extremely happy with the acting in this show, and the writing is teetering on the borderline of genius. I almost passed on this show as the subject matter is more than a little personal for me, but Ruth Wilson being cast made me give it a shot. I am glad that I am watching this one. You should give The Wire another try if you like Dominic West's acting. :-P
Winterfell is Burning
This is the e best new show of the season, IMO. So far, I think Noah's version has been more coherent and believable in most aspects-most notably, in his reaction to the creepy brother in law and the daughter; in her version, he barely gives a damn that his daughter nearly had sex with a much older man and then immediately has no problem in leaving the party with Alison, but in his the incident isn't mentioned and he has no problems with the creepy BIL, which makes more sense. Howdyphillip
You should give The Wire another try if you like Dominic West's acting. :-P The acting on the Wire was as good as anything ever shown on television. I just found the overall show to be slow paced to the point that I found myself bored. I also hit a wall when the writing went into the stereotypical representation of Unions in season 2,

l2 0 5 5
Finally caught up on this show. Love the writing and acting. As said above, the unreliable narrator perspective is brilliant. I didn't see it on last night which was devastating because I just finished the seventh episode Saturday night.
Zorral
Evidently, due to holiday break, there wasn't an episode this last Sunday.
