NickGOT456
The History Channel and Sci Fi now SyFy are notable examples. What is wrong with these network execs? Why are channels being allowed to turn into trash? Who do we blame? Do we blame it on people who watch reality TV? Teenagers? Just who? At least the SyFy channel is making an effort at turning around. http://io9.com/syfy-is-turning-james-s-a-coreys-books-into-game-of-t-1562411885 http://www.tor.com/blogs/2014/08/john-scalzi-old-mans-war-syfy-ghost-brigades http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/10/16/syfy-dark-matter-adaptation-series/
red snow
One nice thing about the BBC (and I think it's true of other non cable channels in the UK) is that they have to cover a certain range of programming so they cannot simply go for lowest common denominator. At least all the time.I guess the general population are still to blame though as they wouldn't make them if they weren't being watched by enough folk. It's pretty clear that cable has picked up the slack in terms of scripted drama. Folk seem willing to pay to see it, which makes up for the lower viewing figures.I think some of the network channels are starting to make a come back. SyFy has probably realised how much money they can make with SFF in terms of merchandise after seeing how GOT is doing. I'm also enjoying Vikings from the History channel as well and can forgive their forays into scripted drama if they can pull off more of that.
