The Gyles Rosby Thread

I think the story isn't so much about Gyles himself (and he died already, as JM pointed out). It's who gets his inheritance and what they do with it. Cersei wants to basically forge his will so that he leaves the inheritance to the crown, and we're told that several others have stepped up to claim it. There's also the matter of his ward, who has yet to be identified, but the popular guess is that it's one of Roslin Frey's brothers, a "good" Frey. If the ward is a pro-Robb/Tully Frey and he ends up inheriting all that money, some interesting things could happen.

Someone is going to eventually come onto this thread and say he's not really dead, and that it probably has something to do with the Citadel killing all the dragons or that thrice damed lemon tree.

Rosby was going to be sent to Braavos instead and figure out the lemon tree mystery. So, he had to go.

Nah, he's obviously the secret Targ Doran was talking about, Arianne just misheard him. He actually said their heart's desire was "Justice...vengeance...phlegm and cough"

Well, you see the thing is, Gyls Rosby wasn't really Gyls Rosby. He was Willem Darry.... or Willam Dustin I can't remember. But the lemon tree was definitely not in Braavos

Pretty obviously the consumption he died of.

Then again if that were the case one would think others around him would come down with it.

As previously stated, its probably going to be more interesting what happens in the crownlands what with Olivar Frey and Bronn teaming up.

Isn't TB highly contagious? If he had TB it could be spreading through court.

I don't think the ward is Olyvar, but Perwyn, in particular, obviously does have a claim. Bronn will probably advance a separate Stokeworth one. It's going to be great...

There's an interesting contradiction between Rosby's reputedly enormous wealth and the reported patheticness of his household in ACoK. Does he have an enormous levy off with the Lannisters, or is he a 'bastard feudal' lord, who renders his homage mainly in cash not knight service?

I see it as

'ill-born ward', new character, possibly an actual commoner, holding Rosby by force

Perwyn lodging a Frey claim (hoping for the help of his half-brother Maester Melwys at Rosby?) semi-'legally' in the eyes of the Lannister regime

Bronn declaring a Stokeworth claim / basically seizing control by force

the crown standing by its 'rights'

other unknown claims coming into play
