Jon Snow should stay how he is...dead.

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong,I love Jon and all but resurrections are becoming cheap and Jon snow being 'born admist salt and smoke' and being Azor Ahai just screams cheesiness. Also, can you blame Bowen Marsh? He's a dead man walking but Jon was forsaking his vows. Overall,Bowen Marsh has likely fucking executed the idea in bis head of the wildlings murdering the watch since Jon was the only one who could hold it together.

Let people be shocked in TWoW and let Jon just stay dead,if he's resurrected,I'm going be pissed.

It really would be shocking if he stayed dead in TWOW, more than the stabbing in ADWD which everyone (almost certainly rightly) considered a cliffhanger to be resolved in next book.

GRRM did say Gandalf should have been left dead and that his resurrection cheapened his sacrifice.

Its extremely unlikely that Jon is simply dead but GRRM has surprised me before.

Somehow I don't think you actually "love Jon."

GRRM has all but said that there's more to his story, e.g. that he'll find out who his parents are.

But hey, have fun being pissed.

Sorry,I just don't want my favourite characters constantly coming back from the dead and if Jon is lying on his deathbed with howland reed telling him who his mother is then that's ok enough.

"He never felt the fourth knife, only the cold..."

Exactly how does one feel cold if one is dead? Jon is alive. He may die on the first page of TWoW but until then, he lives. Deal with it.

He's not actually dead at this point. Dead men don't 'feel cold'. He may die later, but he hasn't died in the text.

Ahem...Renly would like a word with you :smug:

But I agree, it would be shock factor for its own sake to kill Jon at this point. It would also be terribly cheesy to resurrect him in a cheap manner. And it would be manipulative to say "Oh, he was never dead, just wounded, but I needed a cliffhanger, LOL"

So I'm basically expecting something great from GRRM

"Dead men" feel nothing...that's my point. Dying men feel cold. Jon may be dying (which is a reasonable assumption given his injuries), but he hasn't actually died at this point in the story. The very first words of the next book may be "He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold ... and then he died." Then I would consider him dead. But at this point in the text, he hasn't actually died. We haven't seen him die, and no other POV has confirmed his death. Until then, he's not dead. He can't very well remain dead when he hasn't actually died in the first place.

Hmmm, I'm one of the few that believe he has received multiple light wounds due to a combination of armor and completely inept assailants. So, basically, I don't think he needs to be resurrected at all. I agree resurrections are LAME. I think he's destined to do more than defeat the 'others'. I see the entire North and Free Folk rallying behind him.

But mostly, this.

Bowen didn't stab Jon for the simple matter of oathbreaking. He stabbed Jon because Jon announced that he planned to keep fighting the winning side.

that aside, there's a pretty good chance he's not dead at all. not dead = no resurrection.
