The Vulture King
Did anyone else catch the part in the Vale section about the Mountain Clans having a "fire witch". Not really sure what that's all about but its reported she "commanded" a dragon?!? Pretty hard to confuse a dragon with any other living creature. Going to go out on a limp and say she was a red priestess and her "dragon" was just fire tricks?

The Vulture King
She was Nettles? Ya I thought that at first but thinking about how big Sheepstealer was and how much Nettles had ridden in her life I would find it hard to think they wouldn't be seen by Lords of the Vale and others. Lord Varys
Netty ended up there in winter. Surely it took until next spring (i.e. until the end of the Regency) to realize what was going on up there. Perhaps even longer if she stayed for herself at first. The clansmen surely could not tell anyone at once or send a raven...
Maia
Yea, but there wouldn't have been enough for Sheepstealer to eat in the mountains, particularly in winter. Hopefully, S/he didn't just starve to death there. Also, I have been hoping that Nettles would have done something cooler with her life as a freelance dragonrider... Lord Varys
The impression I get is that she effectively founded the Burned Men, and it is said that they fed her. She did not starve to death. I guess she lived for quite some time up there. Although at least Sheepstealer must have been dead by 153, at least officially.
Maia
No, I mean Sheepstealer. Unless older dragons need drastically less nourishment than the younger ones or are capable of hibernating, I don't see it surviving for long in the Mountains of Moon in winter. Here is to hoping, that it was just a short stop for Nettles and her trusty dragon.
Lord Varys
Oh, never thought about that. But then, they could have flown many leagues to find some sheep...
ShadowCat Rivers
Oh, never thought about that. But then, they could have flown many leagues to find some sheep... Or, those who failed to "prove themselves" could end up as dragon food. (It's winter, in the mountains...)
Maid So Fair
I think this is actually the perfect location for Nettles to hang out for a while, especially if she has people bringing food for Sheepstealer. It is very close to Harrenhall, the last location she was seen at, - easily a night's flight so no one would spot her coming here. The mountain clans are outsiders and enemies of all the people likely to be looking for her and no one ever speaks to them so it's not like they could or would easily reveal her location. Even without extra food from the clans, the Mountains of the Moon are a wilderness area with a known population of mountain goats and shadowcats (and other prey? mountian sheep hopefully heh) that Sheepstealer hunt. When a dragon gets hungry, it doesn't starve, people gets eaten. Hence, if the people of the Vale don't tell tales about Nettle's village-burning human-eating dragon, it means Nettle found something else to eat (I guess the wildlings gave her food, and fed her dragon with captives taken from the Vale). Elessar
Hopefully after she left she did something cool... I really wish for one of the two known surviving dragons to have had some part to play elsewhere, or in the main story. There are theories (in world) that Cannibal lived a much longer span that dragons were known to live, so there is a chance they're out there somewhere, or one of them was the dead dragon in the red waste. Goats and sheep are very closely related. The mountain clans raise goats. Sheepstealer just had a rustic holiday for a while.

Veltigar
I know about Welsh dragons, but New-Zealand dragons? Is that a thing? It was more a joke on Sheepstealers singular interest in sheeps :) Not unlike the New-Zealanders and the Welsh rumoured love for these wolly creatures :P
