jandrekleynhans
Okay so, being GRRM this is not unexpected. I came across a word in the first few pages for which I can't find no explanation after trying a few dictionaries and a comprehensive Google search. I'll pate an extract from the text here with the word in red. Hopefully someone can help. "Though he was not yet five-and-thirty, only a fringe of thin black hair remained on his head, circling behind his ears like the shadow of a crown. His brother, the late King Robert, had grown a beard in his final years. Maester Cressen had never seen it, but they said it was a wild thing, thick and flerce. As if in answer, Stannis kept his own whiskers cropped tight and short. " Thanks in advance.
Neumond
It is probably a typo and should be fierce instead of flerce. But perhaps someone else has a better explanation.
jandrekleynhans
Exactly what I thought. Would have been cooler if it was some awesome archaic dialect or something. haha. Thanks for the reply!
John Suburbs
Flerce means to be speckled with semen.
Ser Cold Fingers
"Flerce" does not show up in my eBook...I searched your phrase above...and my ebook as fierce in its place...so that was a typo.
