Sandor Clegane is a Faceless Man

The Vinyl Jon Snow

Anybody heard of this theory? I thought I remember it being discussed awhile back but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the forums.

Might take a look at my books and bring some relevent quotes that prove it later tonight. If anybody else thinks this might be true feel free to post evidence in this thread.

Everyone is a faceless man. In the last chapter there will be the big reveal where they all go 'Sayeth whaaat? You're FM to?', followed by the reveal that all FM are secret Targaryens.

No, seriously: Not buying this, not for a second...

There is actually quite a bit of textual evidence that supports this. Going to post it whenever I get some free time. But his connection to Arya is the most important thing to examine.

You have to remember that the first novel came out in 1996. In Arya's very first chapter we are introduced to Sandor Clegane in the following way

" Ser Rodrik tugged thoughtfully at his white whiskers. What are you suggesting? he asked the prince. Live steel. Done, Robb shouted back. You'll be sorry! The master-at-arms put a hand on Robb's shoulder to quiet him Live steel is too dangerous. I will permit you tourney swords, with blunted edges. Joffrey said nothing, but a man strange to Arya, a tall knight with black hair and burn scars on his face, pushed forward in front of the prince. This is your prince. Who are you to tell him he may not have an edge on his sword, ser?"

He is described as " a man strange to Arya". Hello the Stranger? He even names his horse this. And of course anybody whom has read AFFC knows that " The Stranger" is the god she prays to. Foreshadowing is key when looking at GRRM long games.

I'm not really sold on the references to the Stranger being a sign that he's a faceless man. If we wanted to posit a connection between the Hound and Arya's worship of Death/the Stranger, I think it would make more sense to say that he was one of the many factors that made death a prominent enough part of Arya's world for it to become the god she worships.

Yes he is, H'gar was sent to kill him while in King Landing, but got caught. H'gar then pondered whether he should go back, but decided not to. Sandor brought dishonor to the Faceless Men's organization, but karma caught up with him.

Are you being serious?

So the evidence that Sandor could be a faceless man is...because he knows Arya? Well goodness lets not stop there then! Gendry, Lommy, Hot Pie must also be dangerous assassins on a mission to destroy.

Hot Pie is obviously the Kindly Man. He's the real leader of the FM.
