Sword of Mutilation
First of all i hope that this wasn't already posted and please say if it wasWhat if daenerys was never meant to rule over westeros? Maybe her fate is to conquer essos and remove the slave trade and unite it just like aegon united westeror after all she is being described by many that she's like aegon "with teats" and she seems that she never is planning to leave essos for westeros no matter how many chances came to her to do it . so what do you guys think? Lord Lannister
It seems a distinct possibility that her main contribution to the storyline is bringing dragons back into the world.
TallTyrion
I hope not. There's a line at the end of Dance where Dany says something like "Slavers Bay will never be my home" so I'm hoping that means she's done with the place.
HoboJed
I'm pretty sure GRRM has said she will make it back to Westeros, but I haven't got a source, so take that with a grain of salt.

Well if he said that then i hope it would happen quickly cause essos is so boringBut i don't know ... danm_999
I think her last chapter, and the disaster that was her attempt to end slavery in Slaver's Bay, is a pretty clear sign she's going home to Westeros.

I agree, when she returns Meereen will be a hell hole and who knows how many people will be dead. Victarion's fleet sitting in the Bay will look awful tempting. Nictarion
The story is about Westeros. Not Essos. Most of what takes place there is only relevant as character development for the Westerosi characters that are there. And yes that includes Dany. She was born in Westeros. I do think Dany will have a very large impact in Westeros once she gets there. Whether it's ruling, fighting the Others, another dance of dragons, all three? We will have to wait and see. She doesn't really have to finish the war in Meereen. She and some of her followers can leave. She also doesn't have to fight the Lannisters, their allies then Stannis, then the Others too. She might do only one of these in Westeros, or none of them.

JRose1989
I clicked on this topic worried I would see half a dozen posts claiming that she will 'die giving birth to (insert name here)'s son....then JON/STANNIS (ANY OTHER MALE CHARACTER) GETS DROGON!!!11I am pleased to find this is not the case. :-) I think her last chapter in ADwD indicated that she no longer considers herself the slave's mother, and will head for home asap. Because that is not the case. To date I have'nt read ANYBODY saying she'll die birthing anybody's son ( She's incapable of giving birth according to many)so i dont know where this is coming from (Trust me, I've looked)
Facebookless Man
Dany's fate is to bring fire and blood to the poor people of westeros, and at the worst possible time too.

Tyrion has decided that he actually would like to live, for one thing, which he wasn’t entirely sure of during the last book, and he’s now working toward that end—if he can survive the battle that’s breaking out all around him. And Dany has embraced her heritage as a Targaryen and embraced the Targaryen words. So they’re both coming home.” I don't believe it was ever her "destiny" to rule the Iron Throne, but to bring back the force of Fire to the world so that whatever imbalance happened in the ancient past can be set right. Knight of the Teabags
Dragons plant no trees. My immediate thoughts on those words were 'Aye, but one that would rule must.' That I think is Daenerys' central dilemma: that the thing she does best is to destroy things. Even her great act of birthing the dragons is tainted by destruction death of Drogo and Rhaego, the sacrifice of Mirri Maz Duur and the scattering of Drogo's Khalassar. After she births the dragons pretty much everywhere she goes Daenerys leaves a trail of destruction in her wake - Quath, Astrapor, Yunkai and Mereen. For good or ill Daenerys is a walking/riding/flying human force of destruction and the big conflict in her heart is trying reconcile that with essentially trying to be a good person. Mereen demonstrates that if she stays anywhere too long her destructive nature tends to get in the way of the rebuilding (or 'tree planting') that ultimately has to follow a destructive act if anything good is going to come of it. Her nature is to go off and destroy something else that needs destroying. Which is why she is in my opinion a poor ruler she simply doesn't have the patience to see through long term change. Daenerys needs to find something that allows her to fully embrace her destructive nature and use it positively, so she doesn't feel guilty about the things. What sort of person goes around destroying things and is generally regarded as a good person? Answer: your traditional fantasy hero - DnD/Conan style. Malik Ambar
Both the theory of Daenerys dying in childbirth and the theory of Jon taking Drogon afterwards are not uncommonly discussed on here. Along with the theory of Daenerys being Jon's Nissa Nissa. This place burns down at the mention of a simple alliance between the two, forget hook up . Even those who ' ship ' the two are rational enough to recognise that their love will blossom ( to use fancy language) after the conflict with the Others subsides. Nissa nissa thing is also hardly ever seen here. What's the logic, Jon will somehow suddenly start caring for Daenerys so much that he'll be hesitant to kill her for the greater good? To the Drogon thing i found a link. But seems like an isolated incident, with many posters (including his ' hardcores ' ) declaring they'll be okay with jon on any dragon
