Small questions v. 10092

Knight Of Winter

Recommended Posts

@ Jon Weirgaryen

Well looking at the sigils and such, Horpe and Lonmouth are my biggest contenders. Death heads moths? Skulls? Both work for a Weeping Town.

Both seem relatively important (Richard Horpe is with Stannis and a Richard Lonmouth was Rhaegars squire). A Joffrey Lonmouth was also the lover of Laenor Velaryon, so they crop up in history.

Or maybe it is a Faith fief like Stoney Sept or a royal fief like Pennytree.
I know not.

Has anyone seen a satisfactory reason for why Ghost barred his teeth at Devan Seaworth? The onlyvthing I can come up with is Devan lives Melisandre but Melisandre wants to make shadow babies with Jon, so Devan will move against Jon. But that doesn't convince me at all.

Haven't read that part in a while...Didn't Devan pretty much pop around the corner and scare Jon and Ghost? Or am I misremembering? I always thought Ghost was just startled.

I have a question about the three heads of the dragon. Dany is one , Jon is the second( most likely) but does all of the heads need to be Targs , can the third one be someone else than a Targ Tyrion for example?

GRRM has stated that the three heads don´t necessarily have to be Targaryens..

But what do we call a Targaryen? Jon is Jon Snow, even if R+L = J (which I'm rather certain of), and even if R+L were married (which is an additional theory which holds reasonable ground), Jon is who he chooses to be.. and currently, he's Snow, not Targaryen.

In addition, we've seen the dragonseeds.. Addam of Hull, later Addam Velaryon, was not a Targaryen, yet he could ride a dragon.. Surely, there was some Targaryen blood somewhere (Corlys Velaryon had Targaryen ancestry), but Addam was not ever a Targaryen.

So while GRRM has stated that not all the heads need to be Targaryens, it is unknown to what extent GRRM means this.

The most brilliant thread I've seen on this topic can be found here...

Here's the relevant passage...

By the time they returned to the surface, the shadows of the afternoon were growing long. Clouds streaked the sky like tattered banners, grey and white and torn. The yard outside the armory was empty, but inside Jon found the king's squire awaiting him. Devan was a skinny lad of some twelve years, brown of hair and eye. They found him frozen by the forge, hardly daring to move as Ghost sniffed him up and down. "He won't hurt you,"

Jon said, but the boy flinched at the sound of his voice, and that sudden motion made the direwolf bare his teeth. "No! " Jon said. "Ghost, leave him be. Away. " The wolf slunk back to his ox bone, silence on four feet. Devan looked as pale as Ghost, his face damp with perspiration.

Jon IV, Dance

Jon offers that as a reasonable explanation, but gicen what we know about the reaction of the d-wolves, I don't think so...

I'm going to throw this here instead of creating a new thread:

Has anyone theorized that the "mountains crumble and turn to ash" part of Quaithe's prophecy might relate to the wall coming down? A thread link would be appreciated.

I guess people have thought about it, sure.. But the Wall isn't a mountain, which is probably why most people don't consider it.

Probably not the right place to ask about this but has there been any update on the prologue of TWOW? All I remember is GRRM saying Jeyne Westerling will make an appearance. Has there been any update or theories about what could happen?

No update.

Theories enough about it :)

Is Willas and Garlan Tyrell entirely cut from the tv show?

It appears that way. Loras took Garlan's place in the Battle of the Blackwater, and Loras took the place of Willas in Sansa's hopeful marriage.

To add to this, Loras is specifically mentioned as Tyrell's heir son. Tywin threatens Olenna to put Loras in KG so that Highgarden would go to Margaery's children by Joffrey (meaning there are no other Tyrell sons).
