Re-reading AGoT and noticed...

Bush didn't let himself go to seed physically... Bush wasn't a philandering drunk while he was in office... Bush actually made a decision or two on his own (woe to the nation when that was the case)... Bush wasn't really loved by the people...

Really, Robert isn't a fucking thing like G-Dub aside from both being pretty ineffective figureheads.

I first thought of him being like Pancho Villa "El Centauro del Norte" He had 9 different wives and 15 sons and daughters. He was a rebel, and a great militar. He had the probability to be president but he didnt want. He was killed by someone who was his ally first. You may not know about him. He was mexican and is onlya Hero here in Mexico.

Robert won two wars.

Yes, he overthrew the legitimate government easily enough, but the administration of ruling the kingdom with so many different factions vying for control was his failing point.

I'll admit he did that better the second part better than Bush, but let's not pretend the Iraqi army defeated the US.

He bankrupted his realm, was a guy you want to party with but don't want to lead a country, if you guys read into it further than that your just not having enough fun.

Really? There are people that would like to party with George W. Bush? I'm not very familiar with American politics, but he always seemed like a slow-witted bore to me.

Roberts rise was defined primarily by leading a successful rebellion and he is a veteran of several battles. Unlike W, he didn't show any public or private expressions of religiosity and was a serial philanderer. He became a heavy drinker, whereas W stopped drinking long before getting into the white house. Robert really isn't a political animal at all. There's not much similarity there.

I have been saying this since I joined the board. Even though he was writing AGOT during the Clinton years, GRRM sat through the farce that was Bush 41. Tywin Lannister is 100% Dick Cheney - the REAL "hand of the king" during 41 and 43. He & Jon Arryn and some of the other Lords Paramount were involved in their own Project for a New Westerosi Century, I am certain.
