The Ryswells

In the world book House Ryder are mentioned as the original rulers of the Rills. They are counted as a House that was reduced from royals to Stark vassals. So at some point the Ryders disappear from history and the Ryswells becomes the new Lords of the Rills. In the story of the Seventy-nine deserters the Ryswells seem to be located in the Barrowlands. Did they at some point migrate to the Rills? What's their historical connection to the Ryders of the Rills? Or to the Dustins of the Barrowlands? Are they former Dustin bannermen? Can they like the Dustins claim to be descendants of the Barrow Kings?

First Men names tend to be rather descriptive.

The Ryswells are known for their large and impressive horse herds. Lady Dustin (who grew up a Ryswell) talks about her father's herds, and their banner is even a horsehead. Now, given that it is highly likely that the name of House Ryder refers to the fact that they had a strong association with horseriding (Ryder=Rider), it seems that the Rills have been associated with horsebreeding since the Age of Heroes.

So either the Ryswells took over the Riders' sigil, or else they were a competing House from the Rills, much like the Lannisters are not the only House in the Westerlands to have a lion as their sigil.
