Another Targ history?

Recommended Posts

So TWOIAF gave us some really good detail of the Targ dynasty. I thought I read somewhere or maybe an interview that George was planning on releasing a book of the complete history of the Targ called Fire & Blood after everything was done... is that correct?

If so, what else could we be in for? Is it possible that the Targ Kings & Queens had their very own personal historians aside from the maesters? Or was their some separate journal that the family wrote in from time to time? Maybe learn who all the forgotten daughters of House Targaryan were and who they married? Maybe it's the history seen from the queen or princess?

Just a thought...what could we be missing about this bloodline...

Fire and Blood is the complete history of the Targaryens as told by Archmaester Gyldayn, the "author" of "The Princess and the Queen" and "The Rogue Prince". Basically it would cover the same period as TWOIAF, but in much greater detail, from a differen author's POV.

Gyldayn lived about the same time as Egg was king, righ? So it would probably end with the time just before Dunk and Egg (i.e. first Blackfyre rebellion).

That would make the book lacking in details...

Like the enitre reign of Jahaerys (hello? War of the Ninepenny Kings!)

and Aerys (I think we have the full story of Aerys and Tywin's interactions as that was what Aerys section largely constituted), but what about the end of that reign and his views of Rhaeger and Roberts Rebellion.

I think Fire and Blood just covers the Targaryen reigns, but I think it would cover all of them. Gyldayn probably died during Robert's Rebellion or something.

I really doubt that Jahaerys and Aerys reigns would be skipped...

The World book places his last manuscripts to be towards the end of Egg's reign. Now when I recently double checked with TWoIaF it seems his last manuscript could have something to do with Summerhall, only fragments remain. Maybe he was there, and died in the fire, and that's why only fragments of his writings were known to Yandel.

Disappointing...

I do wonder if this book will also detail the reigns of the other lords in other regions, or if it is solely based on the Targs.

TWOIAF had history ebfore the Conquest and beyond Westeros, and that is likely all we will get for that timeframe, and I am more then content, but what about the Starks/Lannisters etc. during the Targaryen reign? That seems important to me.

No, I imagine another maesters took over. I really can't see the last years of the Targaryen dynasty being skipped over. What is the point??
