James Steller
For me, it comes down to loyalty. Numbers are important in terms of support, as is capability, but the true gift that keeps on giving is genuine allegiance. The kind of fealty which won't go away when your backs are against the wall. And for me, these four houses are the ones that I'd want by my side. 1) Manderly 2) Mallister 3) Royce 4) Glover

OmnomnomPomelo
Not in order:1)Royce: seems to be a "caring" house, I mean you can count on them2)Dondarrion: tough guys since they are marcher lords3)Umber: pretty good physical strength to fight all day4)Dayne: seems to be pretty badass and there were/are skilled members like Arthur or GeroldAnd the first 3 are loyal for sure. Hangover of the Morning
Dayne: ample supply of some of the most honourable and competent fighters in the realm; I'll marry them into my family in order to improve the phenotype of my descendants Manderley: loyal, smart, strong, politically savvyRoyce Redwyne: naval fleet and fine wine on the HouseReyne, Hightower or Yronwood: you need someone to keep you on your toes, not just bootlickers Edit: Forgot Redwyne. Of course I want them because they have the wine fleet. I'll exchange them for Royce.

TheNinjaDC
It would be: -Hightowers: Even if they don't donate troops to my cause, they will donate Lanister level taxes to support any war effort. -Redwyne: Need a strong naval power, one that won't stab you in the back because of what a squid says. -Manderly: Loyal and powerful with the strength of a city behind them. -Royce: Seems to be the most influential house in the Vale(save Aryn), with strong loyalty. These four would give me a foothold in 3 different regions, and many strong defensible positions.

TallTyrion
Redwyne: Naval power only rivalled by the IB and the Throne itself. Hightower: Probably most manpower and wealth of any non-Lord Paramount house. Mallister: Veteran military command and reliable soldiers. Tarly: Best soldiers for the Van and superior command.
