Trojan Stannis

Do you think Stannis will pull a Trojan Hoarse scheme to get into Winterfell. In ADWD, Stannis realized that he is not his brother Robert making reference that Robert would come up to the front gate of Winterfell and slain both Boltons with both hands. Theon also explained that if Stannis try attack the castle he is doomed.

The Boltons has northern bannermen inside the castle that don't not like them except the Freys and Roswells.

no, the last we heard is the Bolton army coming to wolfswood for Stannis, what if Stannis was able to kill some of Bolton's men and have some of his men wear there armor in order to have them returned to Winterfell believing Stannis was defeated. Because sieging Winterfell is a stupid move. That's just my crazy theory.

Stannis's objective was to get Bolton out of WInterfell and bring the fight to him. This is what skilled commanders do and he succeeded.

He chose the battleplace- the crofter's village. Why do you think he is lighting beacon fires? He doesn't care about R'hlor. Stannis wants to be found!

None of the Bolton scouts that went out returned, so I don't think Stannis infiltrated Winterfell that way. However, I suspect he has someone working for him inside, as I doubt he would have left anything to chance.

I just re-read the chapter where the Bolton soldiers heard drums which prompted them to come out. I have not read the sample chapters of TWOW, I might as well read it since it wont come out until late 2015 or 2016

The part about the scouts not returning was in one of the Theon chapters. And you can see what Stannis is up to from Asha's chapter The Sacrifice. She has underestimated him severely because she lacks his strategic acumen.

If you read the chapter again without being influenced by Asha's thoughts, you'll see what is going on.

And it wasn't the drums that prompted Bolton's men to come out. Roose realised that the factions within Winterfell were about to start killing each other and he wanted to survive. He gave the order.

Mayhaps he started the havoc himself by ordering Little Walder's murder hoping to escape while tempers were flying and nobody was paying attention. Roose is a survivor and I am afraid he will go on living for awhile. It's not a theory, but an idea to explore that just occured to me.

I have not read the sample chapters of TWOW(just heard from other sources), but did the GC took Storms End and are waiting for Arainne to join them.

Well, he said they would take the castle by guile, didn't he? Many have suggested that's how they will do it, pretending to be Stannis' men to get in.

Your right about Roose and I think a lot of readers underestimate him. Theon described him being uneasy when the Freys and Manderlys were arguing. He may have planned the distraction, but I don't think so. Did Stannis caught a measter who has three ravens and did he sent one of the ravens to Winterfell saying that Stannis's army is at Wolfswood. So he could goat Roose's army out of hiding. Please correct me if I am off.

The maester Stannis caught sent a map with Stannis's location to Winterfell. Roose got the map in the chapter named Theon, after Hosteen Frey attacked Lord Manderly. It looked like the bird had just arrived and Roose ordered Frey and Manderly to lead the attack on Stannis, so he got rid of them with one swift move.

Remember that lake Stannis's people fished out by cutting lots and lots of holes in the ice?

Holes that won't necessarily be apparent if there's so much snow that you can't even tell there's a lake there?

A bunch of whoever comes after Stannis is going to ride out onto that ice and then, weakened by all those holes, it's going to give way.

Obviously Stannis has to stay put and wait for them in order for that to happen.

I know George likes to take the expected and turn it on its head, but that swiss cheesed ice is just too good a gimmick not to use.

But that tunnel around the wall at Winterfell that Bran found will play a part in taking Winterfell back.
