princeofdragonstone1710
In 'the Rogue Prince,' it is mentioned that Laenor Velaryon had Targaryen blood on both sides, when discussing how suitable he would be as a husband for Rhaenyra Targaryen. Does anyone know if Corlys Velaryon's mother was then a Targaryen? This would give his children Targaryen ancestry through him, as well as through their mother Princess Rhaenys, the Queen that Never Was. With the release of 'the World of Ice and Fire,' I was wondering too if perhaps Corlys' mother could have been Aerea or Rhaella, one of the twin daughters of Princess Rhaena and Prince Aegon, or even Princess Rhaena herself. Just to confirm, we do not know the fates of any of those three. Feel free to provide any information I might have missed from 'the World of Ice and Fire,' or any thoughts or theories! Ramsay's Penguins
Possibly, or a mother from generations ago, before the conquest, it said blood, not mother. Iirc, those twos death is not mentioned. I confess, I don't like having spare branches on family trees...
Rhaenys_Targaryen
He does seem to havea Targaryen ancestor, though we don't know how recent. The mother of Alyssa Velaryon was a Targaryen, for example.. it could have been this ancestor.Aerea and Rhalla were born in either 41, 42 or 43 AC, Corlys himself in 53 AC, so one of the twins for his mother seems kind of forced... Princess Rhaena, on the other hand, could very well be. Targaryens and Velaryons intermarried on multiple occasions. Valaena Velaryon had a Targaryen mother as well, for example..We know too little of the Velaryon tree to be certain, by there are multiple possibilities.
