Prequels to Game of Thrones Series

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm a relatively new poster but have been reading the forums for a while. I was wondering if someone could help me with naming all the prequels.

I know about the dunk and egg novellas but I can't find anything that would be a simple purchase of the 3 released ones together.

Any information on listing any prequels or helpful information about how you read them all would be greatly appreciated.

The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight are the three Dunk & Egg novella's currently available. They can only be bought as parts of anthologies, though they are supposed to be released in one bundle (so only those three stories) in 2015 :)

The Princess and the Queen, can be found in the anthology Dangerous Women

The Rogue Prince, can be found in the anthology Rogues.

The Rogue Prince ends only hours before The Princess and the Queen takes off.. TRP concerns the reign of Viserys I, TPATQ, the first two years of the reign of Aegon II, the Dance of the Dragons.

THK takes place in 209 AC, during the final months of the reign of King Daeron II, TSS and TMK supposedly in 211 AC, early in the reign of King Aerys I.

TRP and TPATQ will most likely only be available in those anthologies for the next few years, I think, as they are edited versions of Fire and Blood, a history book to be released a few years after the final book of the main series.

Hope this helps!

Then there is of course the World book: The World of Ice and Fire featuring the history of Westeros and beyond as told by Maester Yandel. It also has alot of pretty artwork. However it goes best with the map bundle Lands of Ice and Fire, since you'll constantly go to the maps to look up places mentioned.

This is so true, I wanted Lands so badly while I was reading World that I ended up going out and buying it!

I really need to invest in the anthologies too...
