Will Jaime eventually become Lord of Casterly Rock?

He will most likely commit suicide after killing Cersei.

Either Tryion becomes Lord Of Casterly Rock or Lannisters will be stripped of the castle and power and becomes a minor house, or even extinct.

I think the suicide thing is so strange. I think Jaime is clearly learning he can not only live without Cersei, he's better off.

No.

He is a target more than anybody else in the Seven Kingdoms. He'll die.

Why? There are plenty of Lannisters left, even without Tywin's children.

Because payback. North, Riverlands, Dorne and any Targ will go for the entire cake, the Vale and the Stormlands may as well. That leaves the Reach (having it's own problems), the Crownlands and the Ironborn as possible alliances. And they couldn't care less.

I hope he's going to end as Lord for the sake of his family name (NOT for neither Cersei, Tywin or Tyrion's sake, but for the rest of them) - and that he will steer the family in another direction than Tywin did. I could see him taking up the position in a dull realisation that he needs to live his life and that the worlds moves on. It could be the bittersweet ending for him (as GRRM has said, the ending is bittersweet).

Plus I find it too unrealistic if all the dark grey characters are going too die glorified deaths as the high point of their redemtion arcs... some of them will survive and be getting on with their lives in whatever position there is left for them.

But why kill the innocent Lannisters? And don't forget Tyrek might be under Varys' "care".

Learning to move on from a former lover is a different kettle of fish from being able to live with yourself after brutally murdering her with your own hands!

It would be pretty unbelievable to me that Jaime would be able to go on as anything but a shadow of himself if he personally kills Cersei - regardless of how justifies it is. I really hope therefore that he is not the valonquar.

Absolutely agree. I have no idea while people think he is supposed to commit suicide after killing Cersei :dunno: . Did I miss something in the books that points to it?

On topic, I think it's possible, even without Cersei's death. People from Westerlands don't seem to hate him so much as it is seen from his FfC chapters and if he is stripped from his white cloak for whatever reason, even for being believed to be dead for example, I can see the lords of Westeros forget that Cersei is their lady and treat Jaime as their lord instead.
