Wise Fool
Bill Cosby star vandalized on Hollywood Walk of Fame What's next? Burning down his home? :ack: I really don't think "graffiti on a Hollywood star that took a couple hours to clean up" progresses as naturally to "burning down houses" as you think it does. Fragile Bird
If the allegations are true his star should be removed. Those allegations will never be proved, as far as I can tell, because of expired Statute of Limitation periods. Only the latest allegation by the 15 year old might gain traction at a trial. And, of course, there's the whole issue about the definition of "proved". If that long list of women took him to civil court, it would come down to who the jury believed, and many people would not agree no matter which way the decision went. In the other thread I pointed out it's likely too late to collect corroborating evidence, and I meant to make comments about the people who kept saying "there is no evidence". Testimony by the parties involved in the alleged acts is direct evidence. There is no question of "there is no evidence", there is a question about who's stories will be believed. Although a number of women say they discussed the assaults with friends, and their friends could testify that they were told about the events at the time they occurred, but that evidence would not have the strength of evidence like a blood test or a rape examination. Or security camera video. Or contemporaneous interviews of the wait staff, who could say the lady who came to lunch with Cosby was fine when they walked in, but half an hour later took ill and had to be helped out. BloodRider
Yeah. I doubt there will be much resolution here. Another reason I am fine with deciding it is overwhelmingly probable that Cosby did most if not all of what he is accused of doing.

Crazydog7
Its just a shame that any conversation about Bill Cosby will now forever be wrapped up in a serise of rape alligations. While it is probably morally satisfying to form a cyber lynch mob don't get Indigent and act like Cosby is the only powerful/famous/influential person in the history of the universe to find himself in this situation. If the alligations are true its probably a side effect of the same drive and balls that got him to the top of national TV for 7 years. If I were top of the heap and felt I could away with murder its easy to see how things like this could happen. So lets do what we always do when something like this happens maintain that we are SHOCKED about the allegations and declare that such behavior is awful and should never be tolerated. I’ll wait for the next scandal involving a cherished childhood figure. I doubt Cosby is going to pull a Polansk 77 is to old to start a new life in Venezuela and Cosby probably has a better legal team.

Dude...you do realize that the allegations are about him drugging and raping women right? Like, these aren't stories of him pumping and dumping legions of groupies or being rough in bed or fucking an inappropriately aged but adult fan. Plenty of people are driven without acting like characters on CSI or Criminal Minds. I can only assume that you have a different view of the allegations. What do you think they are? Because I can't really consider the possibility that you mean what you say here. You could see yourself conceivably acting as he did? What? Even PA managed to frame his post better than this. We can tell that, because the vast majority of people who get to the top have the same drive and balls, but don't drug and rape people. Meanwhile, lots of people who do drug and rape, don't get to the top in TV. That's because it's not about drive and balls - it's about being a dangerous criminal. Well, I don't know about "forever" but I do think it's a shame the conversation about Bill Cosby will be subsumed--for a while perhaps--by these rape allegations. Pecan
I find myself not caring about this all that much. Of course, I'm disappointed in Bill Cosby for this behavior. Though I was never a huge fan, I always thought of him as one of the good guys. I do recognize that these are allegations and not proven, but you know, there a A LOT of allegations piling on at this point. It's sort of like Global Warming. If you look hard enough, you can find reasons to doubt, but gosh that's a pretty big pile of evidence. But, anyway, the reason I say that I don't care that much is that I'm mostly just tired of celebrity scandals.
Tywin Manderly
Cosby to media: Stay neutral despite rape allegations Bill Cosby broke his silence Friday, albeit briefly, to lecture the media on remaining “neutral” and to say that his wife is standing by him. zelticgar
The part in the article about his wife is interesting: He did, however, wax poetic when asked how his wife of more than a half-century, Camille Cosby, was holding up under the strain of the allegations.“Love and the strength of womanhood,” he said. “Let me say it again, love and the strength of womanhood. And, you could reverse it, the strength of womanhood and love.” The marriage dynamic in these powerful celebrity cases is always fascinating to me, whether it is Bill Clinton, Sandusky, Cosby, Ray Rice... The wives are always portrayed as being strong women that on the surface you would expect would not put up with the type of behavior their husbands apparently partake in. Assuming the allegations are true in the Cosby case (and with this many accusations it seems impossible that something was not going on) you would think someone that is supposedly as strong as Camille would A - know something was up and B - do something about it. Fragile Bird
I think she did do something about it. She told him she wouldn't live in LA anymore, and they moved across the country to east coast. Years ago.
AverageGuy
you would think someone that is supposedly as strong as Camille would A - know something was up B, maybe.
