dschamis
I have a new NYC office that needs decorating. Most of it is covered with real art, but we have one conference room called 'Winterfell'. My original plan was to have a few of the maps framed from the 'Lands of Ice and Fire' book, but they really aren't nice enough. Does anyone have any good ideas? One idea I had was to see if I can find some hi-res images of either the maps or anything else, and then printing them on high quality paper or canvas. Has anyone seen any h-res images of the maps? Any other good ideas are welcome! Thanks, David
becca69
Have you thought about purchasing prints directly from the artists who have illustrated scenes from ASOIAF?
lady narcissa
Yeah I agree with becca. Look into purchasing some prints or original art from an artist like John Picacio who has done illustrations for official ASOIAF merchandise like the calendar: http://www.johnpicacio.com/portfolio/2011/ned-stark.html His online shop appears to be closed at the moment but you could email him and I'm sure he will respond. That picture of Ned Stark he did for the calendar, I've seen a canvas print of it that was very large and the quality was excellent. The HBO shop online sells a 24" x 36" poster map of Westeros. By itself it might not look too impressive but layer it with a good combination of colored mats and the right frame and it should work for one piece in the conference room. Valyrian-Steel
Obviously I'm biased, but for a room called Winterfell... http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/stark-infantry-shield/prod_19.html http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/ice-eddard-stark/prod_27.html or if your budget is higher http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/ice-eddard-stark-damascus/prod_34.html Or if your budget is extra high we have an artist proof of the damascus edition that itself was an edition of 18, most of which went to VIPs like George R.R. Martin, up in an eBay charity auction right now, but its past $2500 already - but hey, its for charity. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ice-Sword-of-Eddard-Stark-Damascus-artist-proof-by-Valyrian-Steel-/181607816388?pt=US_Fiction_Books&hash=item2a48ab5cc4 If you have any shelves in the room, Dark Horse did some direwolf bookends that would fit. Also I'm partial to this art: http://www.deviantart.com/print/7517161/ It is of the Wall, not Winterfell, but of the North. here is one he did of winterfell http://www.deviantart.com/print/8652704/ Last idea... our Night's Watch Dragonglass Dagger Set: http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/nights-watch-dragonglass-dagger/prod_15.html If you put the money into putting it in a nice shadowbox style frame, could work well. It includes a fabric map of beyond the wall, a COA autographed by GRRM, a letter written by GRRM in the voice on Jon Snow, and of course the dragonglass dagger. Also... what about a taxidermy bear in the corner? Call it Hodor. Those aren't cheap, $7-$10k. If you'd rather not want a formerly live animal, carvings. There are people who do chainsaw carvings that big of bears... or wolves. https://www.etsy.com/listing/185132021/silver-wolf-head-mount-wall-statue-faux?ref=sc_3&plkey=f4fe5806b47e2d019a036ccda26920a951d8978c%3A185132021&ga_search_query=wolf+statue&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery Budget buster: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hand-Carved-Wood-Cyprus-Burl-WOLF-WOLVES-Folk-Art-/190963196609?pt=Art_Sculpture&hash=item2c764b22c1
