lom678
I'm curious as why Lightbringer shone even though a king wasn't burned that day. I understand no heat was felt from the sword but that is common.
King Tommen Baratheon
I always just took that to mean it was just a shiny sword. It could just be the angle of the light reflected off a flaming metal thing. imo Lightbringer is Jon, so Mel might have just been working some spells to make the burning of "Mance" more convincing. aFeastForDragons
Magic in blood/fire sacrifice. Same way the Dragon eggs were hatched when Drogo was burned and the speedy trip to wall when they burned Florent.
House Hendrix of Rock
Agreed that the sacrifice added to the magic already present in lightbringer
ThunderG
Rattleshirt was a secret Targaryen but nobody knew, not even Rattleshirt.
King Tyrion XX
Was Mel using one of her tricks?
bemused
Yes, I believe so. Light bringer appears to be glamoured by Mel ( it has a ruby on it's pommel , like Mance's cuff). So she was really expending a lot of energy ..keeping up the glamours on the two men and making the sword flame more brightly, to make Stannis more impressive. lom678
Rattleshirt was a secret Targaryen but nobody knew, not even Rattleshirt. This makes the most sense.
