Who would you like to see sit on the Iron Throne (if it exists by the end at all), out of the current people vying for it?

Base this on who you individually would most like to be subject to if you lived in Westeros. And please, only people who are actively trying to become king (no Tyrion, Hodor, Arya, etc.)

Candidates:

  • Stannis Baratheon
  • Tommen Baratheon
  • Aegon Targaryen
  • Daenerys Targaryen
  • Euron Greyjoy
  • Split up Westeros

Unless Stannis somehow renounces R'hllor, my choice would actually be Aegon. Even if he is fake, he's seems like a competent and just guy. Tommen could have been my choice, but seeing that the new Regent/Hand is likely to be just another incompetent or power-crazed maniac, I can't really see him being a good king.

Euron Greyjoy is just a sociopath who wants to rape, pillage and murder his way to power, so no.

Aegon Targaryen(if that's really your name!) is still a mostly blank book, so who knows what he's really all about. Can't really back him at this point.

Daenerys Targaryen is just too woefully inconsistent, letting her passions rule her reasons so often. If she can't govern Meereen, I don't see what hope she has for the Seven Kingdoms all with multiple agendas, even if she does manage the conquest.

Stannis Baratheon is an interesting character and probably the most just king in some ways, but he's too wrapped up by Melisandre for comfort and too rigid and uncompromising to rule effectively.

So, oddly enough my choice would be...

Tommen Baratheon. He's a good kid and I think he'd turn out alright if you managed to get him away from Cersei. About the most evil thing he's done so far is declare his intention to outlaw beets(I'm with you!) and he's a likeable person that hasn't been too screwed up in the head yet despite Cersei and Joffrey's best efforts.

I would have to lean towards Aegon off the list you provided. He is still a a bit of an unknown and some of his behavior towards the end of ADWD is a little concerning, but it may just be that he is tried of pretending and going slow, understandable in a boy his age. I think he will be the next person to wear the crown. After he takes Storm's End he will have Dorne, and by that point, I believe Robert Strong's existence will get out, making the Dornish believe he is actually Gregor and that the Lannister's lied to them. At with point they will announce for Aegon and Myrcella will die. I also think the Tyrells will betray the Lannisters for the new dragon, allowing them to take King's Landing without to much trouble.

Though I think there is a name left off that maybe should be on the list, and that is Jon Snow. Now he is not actively trying to win the Iron Throne, I think he still has to be considered (much more so then Sansa or Arya, or Tyrion) because I think he is going to be one of the key players in defeating the Others, and I still think that the person who leads the fight against the Others will be the one to sit the Iron Throne. It is all but proven that Stannis is not the real hero with his pretty sword, but Jon I believe will be the one to rally the North and Wildlings to fight the Others, Dany and her dragons will be key (to me the whole point of bringing dragons back is to fight the Others as there is seemingly little VS and DG weaponry available. How it all plays out, is of course, a giant mystery with really to many options to make a solid theory on how the War for the Dawn 2 actually plays out, but I do think it will be Jon leading the fight with Dany finally coming in with her dragons to finish it off. I think she will lead a southern host north to basically reenforce Jon, possible be with Aegon, that will only be if Dany, Jon, and Aegon are meant to be the dragon riders, and I think Dany will actually find Aegon on the Iron Throne already.

As my signature suggests, I'd rather have Westeros split up again. Yeah, I know there's a lot of war when the Kingdom's not united, but the current system isn't working, and will continue to fail if not held together by dragons or some other mighty force.

Of the candidates listed though, Stannis would be my pick, followed by Tommen.

But do you think that is how it will end?

I added a split up Westeros to the list. I think that it is a realistic option.

None of those Candidates, instead the secret candidates:

-Jon Snow, trained to be a leader by many other great leaders from Ned, Jeor, Aemon, Half Hand, Stannis, and Mance.

-Shireen Baratheon, Stannis's claim, but without his coldness. Would be hilarious the Baratheon that does survive is the frail girl everyone including most readers forgot about.

-Sansa, unlikely, but I would love to see how she LFed her way to the crown.

I agree that those candidates would possibly be better rulers than the ones I listed, but none of them have any ambitions to rule. I just can't see Jon or Sansa wanting to rule the Seven Kingdoms or even the North. Shireen, I think, would be immedietaley unpopular with the Smallfolk and nobles, since she is a cripple. However, you are right that if Stannis were to die Shireen would need to be added to the list I made.
