Regarding Cersei and Margaery's Trials

What do you think will happen? I personally think Cersei will win her trial by battle, but Robert Strong's identity could very well be revealed and Cersei will have to flee before she is hunted down by the Faith or whoever else, and Tommen's legitimacy as king will come into question, as what to do with Qyburn. I also think that Margaery will win, because of Pycelle not being able to provide the "moon tea" evidence, and the fact that very little evidence is against her. But as we know, things don't always go as planned in ASoIaF...

So what do you think?

The legitimacy of Cersei's children isn't on trial. The High Septon declared that the rumor regarding Cersei's incest with Jaime begetting bastards (which Cersei of course denied) was dismissed due to the accusation originating from Stannis who is a heretic follower of Rh'llor. So even if Cersei wins this trial (almost certain) there remains one charge that can bring her down.

This makes me wonder if this results in tommen & myrcella legitimacy being proving false, I mean to the entire realm, does this put their life in danger? Would anyone want to kill tommen or myrcella if they are proving to be false? Just wondering

I doubt it, but there may be more outrage among commonfolk and lords who are shaky on their loyalty to Tommen.

Cersei will most likely win, BUT if she loses some may think that her children are bastard-born. Not the Faith, no. But some smallfolk and other people, who knows. She will never be tried for it or be accused by the Faith of it, but there is a chance that rumors can spread. And plus, Renly (and Robb, too, right?) also declared that Cersei's children were bastards, and he believed in the Seven, not R'hllor. So who knows?

I'm pretty sure that Tommen & Myrcella will be dead soon enough anyway. Probably both in season 6 …… before Cersei in 7. Tommen first, then Myrcella. So far Maggy the Frog's prophecy has been accurate and casting her ahead of the Griffs & the Greyjoys makes me think there is something in it.

Yes, I agree.

Of course it is.

"His High Holiness is resolved that you be tried for regicide, deicide, incest, and high treason.”

“His Grace named Ser Robert to the Kingsguard,” Ser Kevan reminded him, “and Qyburn vouches for the man as well. Be that as it may, we need Ser Robert to prevail, my lords. If my niece is proved guilty of these treasons, the legitimacy of her children will be called into question. If Tommen ceases to be a king, Margaery will cease to be a queen.

The incest charge is for sleeping with Lancel Lannister. Her accuser is Lancel Lannister who is now with the Faith Militant. She is NOT being tried for incest with Jaime. Again, the HS dismissed this accusation as it was sourced from the heretic Stannis. If Cersei loses her trial the fact that she has been convicted of one incest lends credence to Stannis's accusation that her offspring are Jaime's and not Roberts. But she is not on trial for this.

She already confessed sleeping with Lancel and Lancel confessed it too. Cousin marriages are not considered incest in Westeros because there are many examples of that including Tywin and Joanna. There is no need for a trial for that because there is no crime here. There is only sin according to the HS.

The HS didnot dismiss the accusation of Stannis, he just left it to the judges if Cersei chooses so or a trial by combat will decide the matter.

I'm not a Margery fan,

I would enjoy seeing her lose.

As for Cersei,

I really hope she wins.

Cersei will have a spectacular downfall and demise eventually.

It's just that i'm hoping they can prop the character up again , let her make some more blunders.

Then watch her fail violently.

In other words,

I hope they keep giving her character more rope to hang herself with.

She's just too entertaining to fizzle out at the hands of a dubious High Septon imo.

I think Cersei will definitely win--the prophecy from Maggie the Frog says her children will both die before her and BOTH will wear crowns, so their legitimacy needs to remain (from a legal perspective). I think Tommen will fall soon to an assassin (maybe once fAegon is established to the south Varys will set it up as he will see the situation as primed, but because Quentin is dead, the Martells will decide their change at the Iron Throne is via Myrcella--they will crown her and marry her to Tristane)

As for Maergery--yes, Not Guilty, but once Tommen is dead she has no route to the throne...

I am sure she will not stay Queen, but I am actually quite curious to see who will become the regent, especially if Cersei wins. Could she convince them? Or will Mace Tyrell take the regency? It will be interesting.

Cersei is in fact on trial for sleeping with Jaime while married to Robert, if she looses Tommen is not king, Margery is not queen, and the faith militant is no longer legal. No 1 in power in KL can afford to have Cersei loose.

That's why were gonna watch the kettleblack who accused Cersei of Deicide, and Lancel who may or may not have accused her of Regicide, get literally cut in half by UnGregor.

Doesn't Pycelle's death make Marg's situation much worse, since he can't explain the moon tea story in full at her trial (it was moon tea for someone else or just a total lie or whatever)?

Killing Pycelle is a great way to undermine the Lannister-Tyrell alliance by removing the guy who could have done a lot to repair it by recanting his evidence against Marg (and he was so worried about Mace holding a grudge that he would have done it too).

I think the murder of Pycelle just might be the nail in Margaery's coffin.

If Cersei gets off I think the High Septon is going to be pissed and I think he might end up wanting to be hard during Margaery's trial to demonstrate that charges like that are serious and the Faith will make an example of noble women people who think they can get away with breaking the rules of the Faith. The guy seems to enjoy having power, he strikes me as a misogynist who is sexually suspicious of women in general, and I think he'd be irritated at the idea of both Queens making it seem like the Faith arrested them and put them on trial for reasons that they ultimately couldn't prove.

I think the HS is going to jump on the idea that the most important witness against Margaery was conveniently murered. I also think that another of the judges will have their own reasons for wanting to convict her.

Cersei--I can't see her being convicted. Too many other things still need to happen with her character.

Getting rid of Margaery though makes sense for plot reasons.

I agree with this, plus her death would REALLY shake things up.

Yeah. There is a giant cross on her. Margaery's execution will be the catalyst to depose off the Tyrells and prepare the scene to new players. With the Tyrells being deserted by their bannermen and the Faith, fAegon will fill this power vacuum.

Cersei will surely win, though the identity of unGregor likely will be revealed. A bit difficult to understand what will happen with Maergery, but wouldn't be surprised if she loses and then gets executed. A civil war between Faith, Tyrells and Lannisters is just what we need before we will see Aegon's, Dannarys (likely seperately) grand assaults on Westeros.

In regards to Margaery I honestly don't think she'll die. As fanatical as the new Septon is, I doubt he's stupid enough to kill the woman whose family is feeding the Kingslanding also can you imagine the riots that will be caused by her death?

Cersei I'm not too concerned about either, unGregor is like a super soldier zombie.

The new HS owes his power and position to the uprising of the small folk against the nobility and the rulers in general.
