GallowsKnight
Much has been discussed about true knights. I wondering which legit knights (not folk like Brienne or Sandor) you consider a true knight? For me its Davos Seaworth, Berric Dondarrion and Baelor Breakspear. Dunk too if he's ever truly knighted. Gibzit
Garlan the Gallant seems to be a pretty good Knight.

LordQorgyle
Well i think that George said he and his brothers will be somehow importants in the next books...By the time of the books he is one of the few that at least look like a 'real' knight
Lion of the West
The true knights I can think of in the books, and who are alive in the main series as well, are: Barristan SelmyRodrick CasselDavos SeaworthEdmure Tully Honorable mentioning Brienne Tarth Those who I think COULD have the makings of true knights are, I would need some more info and see these guys in difficult situations first Balon SwannAddam MarbrandLyle CrakehallJason MallisterTyrell brothers (Loras and Garlan)And plenty of other guys that I might have missed

Jonsnowisntdead
I think "true knight" is just an unrealistic ideal that no man in the real world (in the books) could possibly maintain. The fact that we can read so many perspectives make it so no one is perfect. The fastest way to failure is attempt to please everyone.

The fact that we can read so many perspectives make it so no one is perfect. The fastest way to failure is attempt to please everyone. completely agree. even barristan still followed orders and fought for the mad king well after it was apparent that it wasnt the 'right' thing to do. had the mentality of eh, ill wait it out and rhaegar should be a better king. barristan still let the mad king burn people alive and killed in his name by fighting for him because that was what his vows made him follow. is that really so different than say a situation like the hound following orders to go kill mycah? the hound wasnt a knight but he was later put in the kingsguard, in barristans place, and was ordered to go cut through people during the riot of kings landing. he had to because that was his order. while sandor was never knighted, the only real difference between the two is that barristan was generally a really good guy and sandor was a complete dick to everyone. if youre going to go by who was always a 'good' person in the series then i think ned is basically the only person who fits that bill. when robert wanted to have dany killed barristan was also opposed to it but i dont remember him being so opposed to it that he was ready to step down from his position and face potential treason like ned did. so ya, completely agree that its basically impossible to name any character in the series completely good. Light a wight tonight
Garlan the Gallant seems to be a pretty good Knight. Pretty sure he was involved in poisoning Joffrey.

dread pirate davos
Definitely beric, though he isn't of the seven anymore. I don't know if that counts against him.
Dorian Martell
A true knight is merely a plot device to make the nether parts of young highborn girls tingle while they wait to be shipped off to whatever lord their parents want an alliance or dowry from
RainGhost
Ser Arys Oakheart and Prince Quentyn Martell are better than most knights in ASOIAF, if not perfect.

SeanF
A true knight is merely a plot device to make the nether parts of young highborn girls tingle while they wait to be shipped off to whatever lord their parents want an alliance or dowry fromNo one can avoid being compromised, but even in Westeros, there are people who come close to being true knights.Ser Barristan broke into Duskendale to rescue Aerys, to prevent Tywin storming the city and putting the population to the sword. Did he do wrong to rescue a mad tyrant; or right to save thousands of innocent people?
SeanF
True knights are brave, loyal, and try to do justice and protect the defenceless. The last two can come into conflict with being loyal to a tyrannical lord or king. But, I'd suggest Barristan, Davos, Arthur Dayne, Beric Dondarrion, Dunk, Willem Darry, all came close.
