BryndenBFish
Hi everyone, Popping by quickly to let you all know that I've compiled a massive compilation of all confirmed TWOW material out there that GRRM, his editors or some of the folks here & elsewhere have confirmed. I cover:The writing process of TWOW & everything we know about it.All the chapters that GRRM has released and where to find themThe chapters that GRRM has read at conventions and other places (This is pretty well documented here, but there are some small tidbits of info I've found elsewhere about these chapters)Unreleased confirmed to semi-confirmed chapters & POVs & where to find info out on them. All of the Plot Points from TWOW that GRRM has confirmed.Miscellaneous info from TWOW that didn't fit in any of the above sections.I would love any all comments that would include more info to compile. I will be happy to credit users here with finds on the blog itself. Thanks so much for reading. Cheers!
The Holy Goat
Well done. Good work. I've read several of your theories and articles and though I won't claim to agree with all of them (at least not entirely), I do find them very interesting. Will look forward to checking this when I have the time.

Ser Fingerbones
Thanks for this, though it may make me depressed that it seems it'll be a long time coming yet.I always enjoy reading your essays, keep up the good work. :)
jet199
You could add the two spoilery blurbs which were put out for AFFC and TWOW before the 5 year gap was scraped. If Martin is sticking to a lot of the same plot he was planning after the gap then these may well be relevant to the next book. AFFCTWOW
Lord Bonefish
This is a fantastic job! I tried to put together a post similar to this ages ago but the mods never approved it for whatever reason. Sad to see it looks like we're now leaning to a 2016 publication date.

I don't know how to react to either of them as they seem to be written by ppl who thought ASOIAF was a much more mystical series than it seems. I'm not saying they're wrong, just strange. I saw something a long time ago that makes me believe she's landing at Starfall and this supports it. Interesting to have the final battle take place at Winterfell. Lord Bonefish
Those blurbs are indeed strange. Cas Stark where did you see the starfall thing? Also - not sure how long a book takes to get added to a publisher schedule, but we now have this.... https://twitter.com/bonefish914/status/552522746975232002

Ser Fingerbones
When does a book usually end up on a publishers publishing schedule? 2-4 months before its release?
Endymion I Targaryen
Amazing work again!I think this interview gives some more hints:Daenerys will embrace her Targaryen words "Fire and Blood".More deaths, betrayals, marriages.A lot of staff will happen at the Wallhttp://shelf-life.ew.com/2014/06/26/george-r-r-martin-winds-winter-tease/
mormont
When does a book usually end up on a publishers publishing schedule? 2-4 months before its release? There's 'usually' and there's 'The Winds of Winter'. TWOW is a massively anticipated book. Big enough that when it's done, the publisher will, if necessary, clear a space on the schedule for it. ETA - but going by ADWD, yes, I'd think about four months.
Xray the Enforcer
For ADWD, completion to publication was about three months (early May to early July). I only know this because I was at a bar with GRRM when news broke that Osama bin Laden had been killed (a date that I can easily google), and GRRM was in town to finish proofing the galleys for publication. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall GRRM stating that he sent various partial manuscripts to his editors from 2006 onwards. And this is a trend that GRRM seems to have continued for TWOW as he sent Anne Groell a 168 page partial in Feburary 2013.That last 3 month editing sprint that GRRM, Anne Groell & Jane Johnson did seemed to be sort of an overall edit/'sweat' (GRRM's term)/ & copy-edit. Is this correct? Also, not being an editor: what does "proofing galleys for publication" mean? Cool you got to hang out w/ GRRM. As a beer drinker, I imagine him to be a brown ale or porter aficionado. Am I wrong in this imagining?

Well, if it's, at maximum, four months to release after it's put on the publishing schedule (but probably far less for such an anticipated book) it only means that we won't get it this Spring, which nobody was expecting. As a beer drinker, I imagine him to be a brown ale or porter aficionado. Am I wrong in this imagining? I don't follow his writing processes closely (or really at all), so I'll have to take your word on some of those things. I do know a fair bit about the general writing process, though, and how editors and writers collaborate to make things happen. The last months of the production are all about reading things for typos, inconsistencies, any lingering/introduced timeline problems, etc. Proofing galleys/page-proofs (depends on your process if you use one or both) -- you aren't just reading/proofing text. You are looking at EXACTLY how the page will print at the printer. So, you're looking for wonky line spacing, misaligned art (say, on the chapter head), poorly place drop-caps, etc. It's your last chance to make sure each page will print in the proper manner, with all of the elements (page numbers, little bits of artwork, section breaks, etc) of the actual page layout present. I'm honestly not sure he has a beer preference (although I've seen him happily drink a variety of beers we've made without complaint). I usually end up drinking cocktails or wine with him.
