Galavant [Spoilers Ahoy!]

I am not predisposed to enjoying musicals. Growing up, musicals were something of a staple. The constant replaying of The Sound of Music in my childhood home was the nail in the coffin.

Add to that. The first opinion I read for Galavant was... Let's just say 'unkind' and move on.

So if it wasn't for those few moments I found amusing in the trailer for this show. It may have been an auto skip for me.

I'm so glad I didn't. I had actual Laugh Out Loud moments.

Even the singing moments were entertaining.

I love the training montage of episode 2. But particularly the after affects. It was satisfying.

John Stamos was pretty fantastic.

Gareth (Vinnie Jones) So good and great dynamic between him and the ever brilliant Timothy Omundson - King Richard.

The cook. I just loved him. Maybe it was his little dance moves. Or the way he just interacts with the King despite

the King having his father and grandfather executed.

I did like the second episode a lot more than the first. But the pilot episode had it's merits and was necessary to get the story underway.

I thought I would make a place to talk about it with my fellow TV addicts.

What did you think?

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I found myself laughing more than I thought I would.

The joust and the whole tourniment bit were great. Stamos was fantastic.

I don't know if I could watch a normal run of a show like this, but a small run like Galavant is doing should be fun.

Who did not recognize Stamos?

<---- This guy!

It was a lot more fun than I expected. Especially how the king's forced marriage plan backfired on him utterly and completely (as I'm sure his plan to right the ship will also).

I don't know if I could watch a normal run of a show like this, but a small run like Galavant is doing should be fun.

And I completely agree with this.

Yeah I'm not sure I could binge watch this show. But I did watch the episode 2 straight after 1. I guess I fear the point the musical aspect becomes too much to bear.

In the 2 episodes though the songs were smart and funny. Well mostly.

I loved at the end of one song Galavant was gasping swore and declared that he was so out of shape...That was a really long song. Soon after that he asked to swap horses with Isabella because her horse looks softer.

It was a great step through from the 'ass kicking heros'. A role Galavant thought he could just take on again after all the self neglect.

I appreciated the funny transition. Over the 'woe is me' struggle.

I loved the little GoT reference in there.

I'm looking forward to Galavant meeting back up with Madalena. She is a special flower. - What the hell does she want that jewel for though. Was that mentioned? it seemed like King Richard didn't care that much. Other than to shut her up about it.

On a slightly related topic.

I commented about the show on twitter and Karen David (Isabella) followed me. I've never had an actor follow me. That I didn't follow first.

Just thought it was kinda cool.

Just looked up IMDb looks like John Stamos was in that one episode. Aw well. His laugh though. Had me cracking up.

I loved it :D

They don't take themselves seriously, it's just light hearted entertainment with catchy songs and great characters ;)

Disney's just making a mockery out of all those fantasy fairy tales and it's awesome :P

Is it just me or was the fourth episode a big step up? Like the first three episode made me smile, but the fourth one had me in stitches at times. Vinnie Jones and Timoth Omundson both deserve a MVP award. And Hugh Bonneville from Downton Abbey as the Pirate King was just golden.

I'll have to re-watch episode 4. I didn't realise that it was another double episode. And I saw the 4th - all the while feeling like I had skipped a step. I just caught up with the 3rd. The executioners were brilliant. The eunuch and almost everything he said.

Was it just me or did the 3rd episode end oddly.. Sort of abrupt?

hahaha 'the lady stuff' "He must have sisters."

I loved episode 4 it was really good :lmao:

Also I love all the characters for their own unique traits:

  • Galavant: he's hot
  • Isabella: she's so sweet and I love how they're not trying to make the cliche "I'm not like other girls" character (they're the worst)
  • Madelena: this girl literally gives 0 fudges :D she chose to be queen and she made her captor fear her. She's literally a parody of the traditional damsel in distress
  • Sid: he's so adorable, the episode with his parents and dolls action figures :P
  • Richard: he's like this child you can't help but feel sorry for, most of the time I forget he's this tyrant he's so naive and childish

My only issue is that I wish they had more female characters
