Well i will have to do a re read, but i always had that opinion. Westerlings are a family on a verge of extinction if i remember correctly,at least money wise. So they play the game and betray the Lannisters for Starks, and when Robb dies,Sybell again plays the game and lies to Jaime saying we were double agents etc. They are just trying to survive i think. And they reek of desperation. But knowing Sybell, she might have been plotting all along with Tywin. I dunno,im brain dead when it comes to this topic xD

did you get the feeling Sybell was plotting with Tywin when she spoke to Jaime. I get what you mean in regards about the Westerlings being a desperate family.

I suppose the Westerlings had to play their game nice.

If Robb won the war (unlikely), Jeyne would be the mother of the next King in the North.

If Tywin won (which happened), they needed to say "oh, it was all a trap!".

I wouldn't discard that Jeyne's mother didn't mind her being pregnant and provided the Moontea as soon as Tywin started to make all the right moves.

If you want to get all technical with your answer  ...fine...but everyone beware...she is answering during a fever dream! :D

Apparently, the Westerlings (read: Sybell) had been plotting together with Tywin (following orders of Tywin) already around the time Robb reached the Crag. Sybell definitly wanted to prevent Jeyne to birth Robb's child..

At least until the war was over. Would Robb have won, Sybell could always have started to give Jeyne different potions, which would then allow her to finally get pregnant.

If Sybell did plotted with Tywin and gave Jayne the moontea as well as giving pardons, why would GRRM have Jayne and Edmure in the upcoming prologue. I believe that storyline has not been resolve yet. I know Edmure and Jayne are minor characters, but it would be a bummer if their story would end with Edmure being a hostage and Jayne at the Crag.

Because Jeyne wasn't in on the plot. She honestly loved Robb, and honestly wanted to get pregnant, and such.

The fact that Jeyne's chances of being pregnant are small, doesn't mean that there is no story there anymore.

Jeyne could, for example, become the figure head of an army who takes revenge for Robb..

I actually like the idea Jayne taking up a cause for Robb. But in her situation now, it's unlikely to happen. I'm looking toward for the prologue when it comes out.

Not that there aren't already viable heirs to Winterfell.... but if Jeyne became pregnant soonish, her child could well be perceived by most to be Robb's child (even if it isn't). If enough people believe this, then it could pose a problem to rival claims.
