[BOOK AND SHOW SPOILERS] My biggest issue with the Brienne vs The Hound scene

Well was never a fan of it to begin with, and I know a lot of people really hated it.

But after watching the final episodes again, I have no clue how in the hell they left the clear plot hole in there, where they had just met Hot Pie not too long ago, and Brienne had that dire wolf piece of bread. Yet she never shows it to Arya nor does she or Pod bring up anything about running into Hot Pie.

I mean once they saw they had to convince her to go with them, how in the hell would neither of them think of that? Why even have the Hot Pie scene? Just for them to learn that she is with the hound? But yea showing the bread or fighting Sandor......genius writing

Showing Arya the bread, if they still had it (we don't know how much time passed), wouldn't have changed anything. The bread proves what exactly? That they ran into Hot Pie and that he trusted them. Okay, but why would this convince Arya to go with Brienne? Hot Pie is the knights have armor guy and the Winterhell guy. Hell, in the very first scene between Arya and Hot Pie she calls him on his bullshit. Hot Pie has never been presented as a person with sound judgement. Whereas Arya has learned to be suspicious of people. She knows the Hound, but she doesn't know Brienne. Brienne has a Lannister sword, is not a Northerner, says she couldn't protect her dead mother because she was ordered to take Jaime back to King's Landing (which wouldn't make any sense to Arya), and the Hound calls her out on not actually having an idea on what to do with her (no more than she does in the books). Why, exactly, would the bread have changed anything?

The one thing I would change in that scene is that Hound almost kills Brienne, and then Podrik saves her by throwing a rock at Hound's head. While the Hound is stunned, Brienne pushes him from the cliff.

In the Feast for Crows, Podrik throws a rock at Shagwell the Fool, and then Brienne kills Tymeon while the Shagwell is stunned.

In that episode, Brienne should have explained to Arya that Oathkeeper was forged from the Ice. But, I doubt neighter that will convince Arya to go with her.

I was annoyed by the Hound telling Arya to go with Brienne after the fight.

It's a cool scene to watch, yet I agree, this would be the most obvious way to convince Arya to come with them and it's ridiculous that they didn't mention it. Really good point!

This was a merging of scenes IMHO. I loved it bc it showed Brienne in a similar fight scene as with the 3 guys ( which is why Pod semi saves her )but gave the audience a thrill seeing them fight. It also drove us all nuts bc we knew Arya should go with HER. Could she really tho?? Of course not! I loved the matchup tho!

I was pissed about the scene not because a woman took out the hound, but that it was just one person. In the book THREE people have to fight sandor in order to inflict a wound. He kills everyone with arya's help. He leaves the inn and goes into a hysterical fever dying end game situation DAYS after. That's my issue, not brienne's gender.

Sandor is also piss drunk in the book whilst fighting off 3 men.

The actual fight itself was kick-ass and Brienne could definitely hold her own but it griped me that it just made no sense and was completely contrived. The OP made a great point about the bread but instead it gets all pistols at dawn and grrrrrr my sword is bigger than your...lady sword. I know the Hound is a rough and uncouth sort of fellow on the outside but he does have his own moral code and I'm not sure attacking a lady fits his MO.
