starwalker
Does anyone else think it is possible that the Iron Bank may step in somehow and save Jon Snow. He did, after all, take out a loan from them, an the Iron Bank is notorious for collecting on its debts. If they are willing to overthrow a king, why not engage in a little necromancy. It doesn't appear that Snow told anyone at the Wall of the steps he took to make sure his men are fed and supplied for the Winter, including Brutus, aka Bowen Marsh. Also, if they are so concerned with getting their money, would they take sides in a war between men and he Others. I don't think letting ombies overrun a realm that is very heavily in your debt would be considered a positive return on your investment. Also related, if they are taking sides in the ombie apocalypse, could they have hired Jaqen H'gar to retrieve information from Oldtown? To see where their best interests lie? I wouldn't put it past a major bank to loan money to zombies if they could make moneyy off it.
~No One~
Jon relayed at least some of the information about his transactions to Cotter Pyke. Cotter (Cottar? Sp?) has the IB boats, after all. And the IB doesn't get involved (unless you subscribe to the FM is the IB wing man theory) except to finance one side against another.Lastly, I'm sure the IB doesn't care if Jon is LC or dead-as-a-door knob. The next LC will inherit the debt. Any doubts about that, just ask Stannis :)
Steelborn
Yeah, I think the Iron Bank is committed to the Night's Watch not Jon particularly. After all, the crown's debts didn't die with Robert.

Rhaegar Targaryen's Ghost
All of a sudden Marsh, or whomever assumes temporary control, will be saddled with the NW's new debts.

I could see them sending Jaqen up to the Wall to impersonate a Wight ... :wideeyed: ... come on, Mr. Martin. Make it so!
