Ok..time for fun. Lets see who can make the best Small Council Dream Team! You are the King, and you can choose ANYONE from ANYTIME. Fill in your appointments, Your Grace:

1.)Hand of the King

2.)Lord Commander of the Kingsguard(You may name your other 6 guards as well, but only the Lord Commander is required)

3.)Master of Coin

4.)Master of laws

5.)Master of Whisperers

6.)Master of Ships

7.)Grand Maester

Finally...to make it a bit more interesting...you may name your Queen of choice. She will obviously come with an alliance from her House (if she has one) and the Army with it. So...are you the BEST...RULER...EVER???

Queen - Margaery Tyrell

Hand - Tyrion Lannister

Master of Coin - Samwell Tarly ( I imagine that he would be good at it )

Master of Laws - Eddard Stark

Master of Whispers - Maybe Arya? She is sneaky and would make a good spy (Nobody could match Varys to be honest, but I wouldn't want him anywhere near my court)

Master of Ships - Davos Seaworth

Grand Maester - Luwin

Kingsguard - (LC) The Hound, Blackfish, Joran Mormont, Greatjon Umber, Brienne, Loras Tyrell, Smalljon Umber (May need some work)

If you want to sink your country faster than Cersei did, these are the best choices indeed.

just discovered this game. :)

Queen:

Maergery Tyrell (to bring in the armies of Highgarden)

1.)Hand of the King: Tyrion Lannister (never underestimate the little guy. If he could keep the mountain tribesmen together and not butchering one another, he should be able to keep this group of egos pulling in the same direction)

2.)Lord Commander of the Kingsguard: Arthur Dayne (trusted and deadly - and a Dornish presence on the council)

his guard:

Gerold Hightower (trusty and solid)

Barristan Selmy (one of the best, ever)

Briennne of Tarth (for guarding the ladies of the royal fam)

the Hound, Sandor Clegane (a reminder that knights aren't perfect)

Beric Dondarrion (a reminder of the cost of doing your duty to the utmost)

Obara Sand (with Dayne it gives Dorne a presence in KL)

3.)Master of Coin: Jon Arryn (a trusted man)

4.)Master of laws: Ned Stark (was my first hand, but he would be in over his head even with a good and balanced group like this. Not a keen legal mind, but a fair one.)

5.)Master of Whisperers: Davos Seaworth with Chataya as his second in command (my third different choice to fill this slot. A smuggler and a whore - they should hear it all.)

6.)Master of Ships: Victarion Greyjoy (pirate problem? What pirate problem? A fearsome captain of the seas but less ambitious than some. That's a good thing.)

7.)Grand Maester: Hoster Tully (send him to the Citadel and train him up, and maybe he'll be more careful with tansy this time around)

Trying to cover the seven kingdoms and bring everyone in made for some hard choices. I liked Chataya as Master of Whisperers, but we needed to bring in Dorne & the Martells in some capacity. Doran will keep the Tyrells (natural enemies) from getting too cozy, though the enmity between them may give Tyrion some sleepless nights . . .

After all this time I just made an unpleasant discovery: the Crownlands & Dorne aren't included in the Seven Kingdoms. If you add those two, you have nine kingdoms.

If you say "the Targaryens have been driven from Westeros so the Crownlands don't officially exist as a separate kingdom", that makes it easier, but you still have to get 8 houses into a 7 man council. Tricky.

Checklist:

the North: MoLaws

Iron Isles: MoShips

the Rock: Hand

Riverlands: GM

Vale: MoCoin

Stormlands: MoWhisperers

Reach: Queen

Dorne: LC of KG

Crownlands: second in command to MoWhisperers (pretty skimpy)
