Demon_of_the_Trident
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I just re-read ADWD and I was thinking what the implications of the epilogue murders are in King's Landing. Varys speculates that Cersei will blame Tyrion, the Tyrells will blame Cersei and someone will blame the Dornish. I think the most likely outcome will be pinning it on Tyrion - the crossbow is a good fit as well as his known dislike of Pycelle. In terms of speculating over the new regent, I have considered a few options: Mace Tyrell: if the Hand can also be the regent, probably the most likely IMO. He is now the most powerful man in the kingdom and in the epilogue he wasn't shy in putting his weight about! Cersei: Closest living relative to Tommen (along with Jamie) but I can't see it. She is soiled goods and awaiting trial. Jaime: If he is alive and if he shows up, he is a possibility I guess. Although I am not sure how he could be regent as well as LC. Other Lannister/ Lannister bannerman: Daven Lannister? Addam Marbrand? I can't see it. It's hard to look beyond Mace but I wonder if anyone has any ideas on this? Hutch
Well if Cersei wins her trial, (which I think she will) I'd imagine she'd pick up where she left off now that Kevan is dead.
JonCon's Red Beard
Varys' kills Kevan because he needs Cersei in charge again. Considering it's known who her Champion will be, it's likely he wins and Cersei gets free. Varys is just making sure Cersei is on her own this time. Spoilers for tWoW It's suggested in the Mercy chapter that Cersei actually wins her trial, so, she will be the regent
Demon_of_the_Trident
But she has still confessed to fornication and had to go through the WoS. I find it hard to believe she can wield any political power in KL again. As for Varys, I saw his aim as sowing general discord, rather than specifically with Cersei in power. Are we saying then that Varys would not have done the murders absent Robert Strong? He would also have to know 100% that Robert Strong would win. Euron69
Jaime: If he is alive and if he shows up, he is a possibility I guess. Although I am not sure how he could be regent as well as LC. I don't think Jaime is likely to die. He just turned into a likeable character [emoji14]
The Holy Goat
I imagine Cersei will become the Queen Regent again. She will have to contend with the Tyrells, Martells and Faith of the Seven for political power though.
Guard of the Rainking
Mace, Marg or Cersei.
Lady Meliora
My guess is Cersei. Her champion will win, absolving her and leaving her free to step back in and keep mucking it up until Varys is ready.
House Obama
Cersei would be the higher percentage guess, but probably Mace.
Mad Madam Mim
I don't see it being Marg, she is still young. Mace would be a possibility but I see it being Cersei.
