B-rad
Sow,thing that has been bothering me is when I randomly watched the sneak peak for Game of Thrones season 1. Martin said that Ned Stark is the main character of the series. When he said series I thought he was most likely just referring to season 1 but he said the series which means the whole show. So what I've been wondering if Martin is somehow going to bring him back and that that was his plan all along. He's already shown how people can come back Frome he dead like Beric Dondarrion and Ned's wife Cat. Also another reason on why Martin might bring back Ned is because of how he relates to Jesus Christ. Like Jesus he was a man who had pretty much committed no wrong, and he died with a lot of people begging for his death. Perhaps his death will also somehow lead to the saving of the world like with Jesus. I don't know what Ned would do if he was brought back and I don't fully believe he will be brought back myself but I think it is something worth considering. Regicide
The conspiracy it would have required to fKill Eddard would be gigantic. killing people is easy. killing someone on the Sept of Baelor in front of thousands of people and it not actually happening would be something littlefinger wouldn't even want to attempt

Lion of the West
If Eddard comes back I will scream, rant and rage for a week. Enough dead people coming back to make death start to not seem like and end for a character.
The Bear
He said it to mislead viewers. That's a far more logical and probable explanation.
ReleaseTheHound
You can have main characters at the start of a series it doesn't mean they will be the main character for the whole series
Euron69
As much as we liked Ned. We have to face it. He's dead. And going to stay that way.
Hiram McDrogon
I wonder just what degree of incandescent rage would be unleashed upon the planet were the final epilogue to reveal it was all Ned's dream, as he wakes up beside Catelyn and decides not to go to King's Landing. johndance
Well think about it. He can't say 'Ned Stark is the main character of season 1 only'. Would be a give away he won't be back. He has to be vague and say he's the main character of the series.
Roose is Azor Ahai
I actually wouldn't rage that much if it would be revealed that the epilogue is Ned saying he won't go to King's Landing. Not that I would like it, but it's certainly better than Dany on the throne. johndance is right.

SaskatoonX
It's possible that Ned will be seen in dreams, visions or flashbacks, but coming back alive not so much.

I don't know what Ned would do if he was brought back and I don't fully believe he will be brought back myself but I think it is something worth considering. First off, Beric Dondarrion is blessed/cursed by lord of light with this gift. The priests do not really resurrect him, they just say the words. It won't work on someone else. And second.... Cat isn't in tv show. Third..... There isn't a body for Ned anymore. So yeah, your theory is absolute ridiculous.
mdw4950
i know resurrections have happened multiple times in the series and likely to keep happening, but no way is ned one of them. theres nothing left to bring back. we get to see his head removed and rotting. iirc the lannisters also give neds bones/ashes back to the starks during their negotiations. theres literally nothing left of ned to bring back. its a VERY slippery slope if the series introduces a way to literally just bring back anyone they want from the dead regardless of how long theyve been dead. not trying to be rude but i always think its kind of ridiculous when people throw out the notion that ned will be revived. beric was brought back basically right after his deaths and cat was brought back three days after she died. im not too keen on the timeline of the series but its safe to assume that neds been dead for at least a year but likely more than two. hes staying dead lol.
