Possible ending for Jon's arc in season 5

Someone on Reddit mentioned that instead of the Pink Letter, what is going to happen is Jon will lead an army to Hardhorne to deal with the resurrected wildlings and kill them all.

But then the white walkers show up which causes Jon's men to retreat. He tells them to continue on with the fight and possibly kills one of the white walkers himself [proving that valyrian steel can work against them, which stirs him on with excitement] but instead of putting their lives at risk the NW brothers stab him and retreat.

Then the final shot of the scene is the white walkers and nights king picking up Jon's corpse and throwing it over their horse, then riding out into the darkness.

Basically they are combining for the watch with Hardhorne as well as probably spoiling a future event from Winds of Winter.

Thoughts?

I believe this thread should be spoiler tagged.

Anyway *POSSIBLE SEASON 5 SPOILERS*

It's unlikely to happen that way because Hardhome is all but confirmed in E8 which means two more spoilery episodes with White Walkers - I find that very unlikely to happen because Jon has enough material for his stabbing to happen in S6 let alone in S5E10.

My take on Jon's arc this season is like this:

E1-2. He's selected Lord Commander and refuses Winterfell

E3-4. He councils Stannis on how to win the North, shows his authority by beheading Slynt

E4-5. Melisandre stuff, Mance is sent to Winterfell

E5-6. Aemon dies, Sam&Gilly are sent to Oldtown possibly Braavos too to get a loan

E7-8. Rest of the wildlings pass the wall, Hardhome or some version of it happens

E9-10. Receives the PL, gets stabbed, we see his eyes going white Bran-style to indicate that he warged Ghost

End of season for Jon.

It's not a bad theory to be honest, I am thinking Hardholme is in but why would they throw Jon's corpse on a horse? I'd also be surprised if Jon is to die but there are hints the white walkers are turning up at the end of ADWD with references to the cold etc.

2spoilery4me. Not gonna happen. They would spoil too much, and I believe someone (Graves?) said that Season 5 would have spoilers only for few characters who passed their material in Season 4. I think that means Sansa and Brienne.

I hope you are right about not spoiling Jon's fate however I feel you may be a little optimistic about spoilers from Winds. I'm convinced there will be some deaths in season 5 which are written in Winds.

I think Grey Worm might also die, maybe he's the one who will get poisoned, or if is not him, then it will be Missandei. They have been building a relationship for those characters in order to make more traumatic the death of one of the two.

I doubt Missandei will die, there are leaked photos of her in Daznak's Pit. I am quite certain Grey Worm does die however. He will take Stalwart's Shield's role from the books and get killed by the Sons of the Harpy and it will be a heartbreaking moment for Missandei and Dany. Barristan might also die but that is just a guess.

Other characters I can see dying who haven't died in the books are Meryn Trant, Mace Tyrell, Pod and Bronn.

I always thought Pod actually died in the books, we have no indication he survived the hanging and he's not as resistant as Brienne. Regarding Meryn Trant, I think it's pretty much confirmed he will bite the dust in Bravos.

Like what? Personally I think only character who's not dead in the books they'll kill is propably Meryn Trant and possibly Daario. Also LF is a possibility.

Nobody knows for sure but it makes sense given the schedule to bring a few things forward where they can. Barristan, Littlefinger, Theon, Boltons/Stannis, Trant, Darrio, Greyworm, Bronn, Podd, Brienne could all be candidates. I do not expect them to kill any of the major characters though unless it's Jon given his situation at the end of ADWD but I am 98% certain he's still alive anyway.

Most of the above are unlikely to be critical to the end game and find themselves close to peril in the last books so probably prime candidates for death in Winds and I'm sure D&D will have aligned with the stuff GRRM has written already.

E09 has a pattern established. It's highly probable to be.....

For The Watch ..... Ghost

E10 looks more likely to have a tease of what happened after

E10 closes with close-up of Ghost's eyes changing color - Obvious significance

The speculation with Night's King.... Far too soon. I see a event in TWoW that means Night's King becomes more central. Maybe Jon meets NK for a classic one on one, winner takes all.... or, something else requiring a bittersweet element.... but with a twist.

Someone is alive!! However, there is a price Jon must pay.

Of course, we've still got a long way to go with the show.... and longer with the books. Maybe what I'm envisaging with NK comes much, much later.

Leaked shots show Arya (in whatever guise) spotting Meryn. It'd kinda re-work the 'Mercy' chapter, but part of that's already been done on the show, back at the inn.

Brienne and Pod are on a different arc to the book. I'd think Brienne would try to save Pod anyway. Plus, there's this thing of if you don't see someone killed off in the book, there's a higher chance of survival.

I could see the pacing of the last episodes at the Wall and beyond go that way :

Episode 7 : Jon leaves Castle Black with a bunch of wildlings and NW brothers who volunteered to go to Hardhome. Bonus point if Queen's Men are laughing at them. Maybe another scene at the end of episode 7 where the team board a ship at Eastwatch to go North. But that's mostly wishful thinking on my part.

Episode 8 : Arrival at Hardhome. There, they meet Rattleshirt (and possibly Varamyr) who refuses to follow the NW. Loboda, a pro-Watch Thenn, convinces some not to take the arms and follow them. Battle ensues until White Walkers show up and everyone is forced to fight and flee together.

Episode 10 : Return at Castle Black. Jon is mocked for his failure. He learns of the outcome of the Battle of Winterfell. Maybe plans with Tormund to go help Stannis. Ides of Marsh. Ghost's eyes flashes. But I wouldnt bet on all that. It's also possible it ends with letting a whole bunch of wildlings settle south and postpone the Ides to season 6...
