Arya's Future?

If we try to predict what's coming for Arya, I think we can safely say Arya will return to Westeros in book 6. After that, it's a bit murky but I predict that she will re-connect with Nymeria and the Brothers without Banners. I also think she'll be the one to give the gift of Mercy to her mother and continue on with the Brotherhood, effectively "disappearing" from Westeros but still carrying on the work of the Brothers. This fulfills so many things we've already read about in connection to Arya:

  • There's a she-wolf leading a large pack of wolves in the Riverlands
  • Being taught to give the gift of Mercy
  • Doling out "justice" to others
  • Arya will be found after the snows melt with Needle

I think she will probably see some of her siblings but as she said to her father, her life is not going to be settling down and being a proper lady. It is unlikely that she will return permanently to Winterfell after all she's learned and experienced. She'll continue on in the vein of the Dunk 'n Egg travels and adventures and most likely die by the sword. This seems like a fitting end for our wild child. Thoughts?

You’ll be sewing all through winter. When the spring thaw comes, they will find your body with a needle still locked tight between your frozen fingers.

She'll be killing all through winter, then she will die.

My only hope is that a family member finds her body. And that she somehow enters Nymeria before her death - but I think GRRM is reserving that particular fate for Jon Snow unless he plans on a complicated warged-wolf ending for the series as a way to reunite certain characters despite their deaths.

Going to the Riverlands and ending the BWB will be prompted by Sansa, and after she and her wolf pack end Stoneheart and the BWB she will return to Sansa and help make her queen. She will likely infiltrate Aegon's small council, possibly taking Lady Nym's identity and eventually be discovered/thwarted by Hotah. She will help turn the populace against Dany with mummery. She will likely kill Qyburn in the act of investigating how to kill Ungregor. And when Sansa sits the throne she will go to suss out the force coming down from the North only to find out Jon leads it. She will convince Sansa to abandon her throne to make way for Jon. She will free the dragons which will be locked in the pit so that Drogon can return to Dany. And at some stage she will fight Jaime, without success, but it may be her wolf pack that ultimately defeats him at the God's Eye when he marches to meet Jon.

I think that the quote means she'll still be alive and kicking at the end of winter. And I'm clearly unbiased

I also believe - like many here - that she will reunite with Nymeria. Then the two of them will become the ultimate Faceless Man/Wolf crime-fighting team. Wait. No, I'm thinking of Turner and Hooch.

But still. No way Arya dies.

I'm less concerned with "will arya die" and "when will she come to Westeros/what will she do" and am more concerned with... Is arya turning into a legitimate psychopath? Leaving her family against her will, feeling the responsibility of Lady's death, the general feeling of KL, watching her father die, not being rescued by her mother and brother, seeing yoren and lommy die, learning of the brutal brutal murder of her mother and brother when she was so close, feeling like maybe she could have saved them, being abandoned by gendry and hot pie... Learning how to murder people, learning how to disassociate... Like she is literally learning how to not feel an identity, empathy, compassion or connection to others... For a young child all of this is like a thousand red flags screaming mental instability

Wow, I didn't know every offhand comment by Jon was a definitive statement of the future of the series. I better go reread all his chapters so I can find out the series ending!

Wow, something I never noticed or saw in any thread.. Don't have the book by hand. Do you maybe have the quote/ passage or link? :D:D

Arya II AGOT while hiding hears illyrio call varys a wizard and sorceror, later asks her fathers guards if they can protect him from wizards . They reply wizards die like any man if you cut their heads off

Cool. Thanks! Subtle but interesting possibility. So now the real question is if Varys is really a magic practisioner or not. Gonna raid the threads in search of that one.
