the storm king returns Posted January 26, 2015 Share Posted January 26, 2015 I have seen a lot of discussion recently about plate armor and how it is basically impénétrable accept for key spots of weakness such as arm pit, neck, etc.So I decided to put one of my favorite characters against drogo, we know Edmure is NO warrior but has had at least basic trainging by Rivverrunns master at arms. Can he defeat Drogo who is a seasoned killing machine bread for war and combat, or will Drogos immense skill be able to hand him the win ? IMO Drogo wins with mid difficulty, drogo might be à horse lord but he knows what Armor is and Im sure has had some experiance fighting armored opponents or Ser Jorah Mormont at least. No, but GRRM tends to put a lot of emphasis on good fighters, so if he was above average, I'd think GRRM would have made it clear to us. He actually comes off as a bit oafish. He actually comes off as a bit oafish. OK, lets start from the assumption he's average. I think an average fighter in armor beats Khal Drogo. Critically, Drogo has no armor of his own and no weapon that can pierce or crush plate armor. Basically he needs to wait for an opportunity to stick his arakh through Edmure's visor or some similarly vulnerable area. Full plate armor has a lot of gaps for manoeuvrability. I don't think Edmure would even be able to hit Drogo. I'd say Edmure is an average knight. Note the past tense. if syrio had an actual weapon it would have easily been his victory. and while a Arakh can't cut though plate (hell normal sword's don't cut though plate) it can sure as hell find an opening at the joint's.
