TropicVirus
Does anyone else think there might be an ice dragon in the battle of Ice and Fire?I've just been wondering. I haven't found any evidence backing it, but it would make sense. If the dragons are going to be there, they're going to need a competitor
Ser Cold Fingers
I think Jon Snow is the metaphorical Ice Dragon. So yes...there will be an Ice Dragon in the fight. ETA: And welcome to the forums!
DarkSister1001
Yup, Jon's the metaphorical ice dragon. If you haven't read the Ice Dragon book, it's pretty cute. I felt like it satiated my need for one. :) And welcome!

imaginepageant
Didn't George say somewhere that there wouldn't be an ice dragon in ASOIAF? I sort of hope there is, though. I love the idea of an ice dragon being buried within the Wall, and being woken by the Horn of Winter and ridden by Jon.

I love the idea of an ice dragon being buried within the Wall, and being woken by the Horn of Winter and ridden by Jon. I thought of this too. The wall is magic and regularly personified, ie weeps, etc. Especially since Sam thinks about Queen Alyssane's visit to the wall and he wonders if her dragon laid a cache of eggs. Maybe blowing the horn will wake the dragon inside the wall, hence bringing it down? Euron's horn is a dragon binder, perhaps the horn of Joramun is too? :dunno:
JoeMama
AWOIAF mentioned the existence of ice dragons historically. Somewhere in Essos, I forget where. And there are all sorts of weird theories about an ice dragon being born either under Winterfell or from within the Wall itself; both related to Jon somehow. Both strike me as a huge stretch though. Harry the Hair
it would've been awesome if one (maybe more) of Dany's dragons would get killed then come back as a wight and fight against her.
Fae Boleyn
I certainly think an ice dragon, or one of Dany's turned into a wight dragon, is a strong possibility. Mostly because I'm not sold on the second Dance as a succession battle - the logistics to make that work leave me thinking it'll take too long - and so I believe this new war between dragonriders will be part of the second Battle of the Dawn. Oafkeeper
Yeah, I am sure there will be ice dragons or zombie dragons simply because otherwise the final battle will be a little dull.
H.P.
I have to admit that the idea of one or more zombie dragons takes me to Giddy-Town.
The Kinkslayer
I guess Im the only one who would prefer seeing the fabled ice spiders and the hellhounds that Symeon Star-eyes saw at the nightfort.
ImpinDornish
If the horn of Joramun isn't in some way dragon related I will be annoyed, personally. The book is the song of ice and fire. Horns, being musical instruments. It's pretty much in the title. Then of course ice being Stark, fire being Targ. I think there'll be a bit of Romeo and Julietesque tragic love story between Dany and Jon. Obviously Rhaegar has said at the house of undying that Jon is the song of ice and fire (if, like most sane people, you believe the R+L=J theory) and the PTWP. But yes ultimately I believe the horn of Joramun is to wake the ice dragon. But, as we've been told countless times, only death may pay for life. Jons death. Jon dies and Azor Azhai rises, riding a fierce ice dragon to battle the Great Other in the Land of Always Winter. This is of course, after he and Dany have met and fallen in love. When Jon gets to the land of always winter he realises he must die to save the realm. Only death can pay for life. This links to Brandon the Builder being Coldhands. He too made the same deal with the great other thousands of years ago. Jon will make the same deal. And so, the circle continues. That's a brief snapshot of how I think things will go down in the final book. Won't be a whiff of any of it in Winds. REVEALnothing
I am just reading the AWOIAF and i noticed that on a map was the shadow of 2 dragons. One had three heads and the other just one. So why would there be another dragon shadow on the map other then the three headed one??
