The Flash - You're a S.T.A.R!

Speaking of the prison issue, I guess the reason Piper wasn't shipped off to a more regular prison like Cold and Heatwave - since he's just a non-powered guy with a gimmick ( and a fairly high profile one at that)- is so's he and Cisco could have their little confrontation at the end there concerning Firestorm.

I'm also guessing they'll only address the prison further when they have the almost inevitable breakout.

on a positive note I really enjoy the chemistry between Barry and detective west. They come off as genuine friends.

also I think Grant Gustin has been beefing up for the role. His neck/shoulders look broader these days,

I definitely agree, Barry and Joe scenes are always great, and usually a highlight of each episode.

And yeah, they should have used this Flash actor for the JLA movies, it will be too weird to see 2 different actors playing the same character.

DC very much wanted to separate their TV and film universes. To use the same guy would complicate that. The separation strikes me as smart, as lets be honest, no one truly knows whether BvS will get off the ground. And it frees both universes up to do what they want with villains.

I'd say it's potentially a huge error on DC's part. Certainly by doubling up on characters they are. The stars in the Marvel movies might be super big time and not likely to be showing up on AoS, but the fact exists that they could .

I'm not a fan of it. I get why they did it, but i don't like it. Kills even more of the "try and pretend it's real" aspect of movies/tv.

Also on the prison issue, it feels so weird that this is something I focus on. But it really is very uncomfortable. I'm totally fine that Oliver Queen drops a prisoner in a hole in the ground and leaves him, but it disturbs me when Barry Allen does the same thing. I'm ok ignoring the fact that these people aren't receiving trials. ffs, though, how hard is it to put in a toilet or a bed, you know, make it look like a real prison cell. Or maybe have a tray of food drop down through a shaft in the background. Or a throwaway line about a prison guard coming around to check on them. It's like they are purposely building it up so that we cheer when the poor, tortured prisoners break free and band together against Barry. Unless...is that what's supposed to happen? As it is, it disrupts my ability to suspend disbelief when friendly, good Barry smiles after preventing a criminal from receiving a fair trial and tosses him into a cell where it appears his basic needs aren't met. It's just weird.

Also, Barry and Iris had a more authentic than usual conversation regarding the risks of hero-worship.

Nice to see him not looking at her with puppy-dog eyes.

It also ended on a note where Iris might start to suspect something about Barry and the Flash, what with the way he suddenly disappeared.

True. Hopefully she doesn't think he's being a dick by ditching her.

It probably is a good idea to insulate the characters from the different media. I'm probably more used to it with reading about multiple Flash comics, watching him in various animated features and on TV. Throw the quicksilvers in and there's a lot of super fast heroes around.

I'm hoping with the films that they'll concentrate on the spectacle and due to having less time to make mistakes are consistent with the power levels :)

So the newest enemy combatant metahuman held at Star Lab's very own black site gets the added benefit of being locked up in a completely windowless room.

How did her boyfriend disappear so quickly? That was weird.

Apart from that this wasn't terribly exciting. Barry once again gets into a fight in which he is incapable of dodging fairly slow blows, but he can undress and dress Caitlin in a blur. Oh, and he picked up a stop-gap love interest. Because those are always the most fascinating of characters.

Linda Park is a pretty important character in Flash lore - she winds up being the wife of Flash (III). It could just be a nod to the comics for a GF of the week though like you said. I really hope they don't have him and Caitlin start a thing as I don't feel much chemistry there and because it feels too much of a copy and paste of Arrow.

I could so be on Team Flash though as their "think inside the box" guy. "Hey Barry, I've made this weapon for you to take down this week's villain" "it's a blindfold". Obviously Cisco and Wells would then present the flashy blackhole gun that sucks in all light but I'm trying to save everyone some money.

I having to choose the fact that they literally mean she has to be able to see in terms of light being present because if they meant she has to see where she's teleporting (which the telescope she used implied) then she broke that rule at least half a dozen times (teleporting into a sealed van, teleporting out of it into a moving car). Infuriating considering they even spelled the rules out for us but I'll choose the rule as "if she can see she can teleport anywhere". Which means she should still be able to escape her cell...

Huh, okay. It sure felt like the classic TV ploy of bringing in a throwaway character so they don't have to deal with the "endgame" relationship for a while. And I'm still not sure what exactly the character could bring to the table that justifies her introduction besides 'complicating' Barry/Iris (or Barry/Caitlin, as of this episode, I guess...).

Yeah, while I would say that the characters and character dynamics are different enough, I'm not really sold on the actress. Though to be fair she hasn't had much to do except being the voice of reason and being sad about her not-so-dead fiancé.

Generally treading water episode.

I first thought she's like Nightcrawler, but the finale seemed to mean she had other abilities. Nightcrawler can teleport places he can't see but doesn't because he might teleport into an object. (why is teleport accepted by my dictionary?) Whereas she actually can't teleport somewhere she can't see? Why?

And again this storm sure loved giving criminals (or at least people who are on the verge) powers. Which adds a weird dimension to Arrow's (utterly unsubstantiated) claim that it chose Barry.

How did Barry hear the bullet before it hit him?

Yay, everyone's favourite a drunk scene.

Silly question: why in TV are peoples individual lamps all on the same circuit as the wall switch.

So I guess prisons just leave all of their gates open at night in a perfect route to outside?

Damn Iris's camera phone is a beast.

I'm glad Barry's dad isn't a total idiot. But tbf I thought he'd been told in a previous episode.

Grodd looks potentially good, but I'll need to see the cgi in daylight to be sure.

C'mon! Grodd though!

That was cool. I'm pleased they've gone CGI with him although that could make it tricky for a full episode.

That was a nice scene with his dad (Grant Gustin seems to be really good at doing scenes with father figures). I was actually starting to wonder whether his Dad may have once had the speed force and he was the other blur fighting reverse flash (would have been a nice nod to the 90s show) but then it's clear he doesn't have that power anymore. Unless he lost it to BArry?

Grodd! Could be awesome. Hope so! Coincidentally, right after Flash, I caught up on "The 100", also a CW show. The last ep featured, among other plot lines, (Dun, dun DUN!!!) A killer gorilla! I guess CW's special effects department has a really limited budget. Monkeys for everybody!
