So, current injury report:

Derrick Rose: Possible return date late March/early April.

Dwight Howard: Slow progress. Looks like March is out of the question as well. Out since January.

Kevin Durant: Continuous problems. Return date keeps getting extended. Will again be re-evaluated in a week.

Paul George: Could return mid-March.

Is that Curry? Because after Westbrook's game tonight, he should also be in the conversation.

Yeah Curry. Westbrook is also know as the Brodie, so there's Bron, Beard, Babyface and Brodie. Should be a hell of a Battle for the trophy.

And Westbrook's stats after the ASG: 33.7ppg, 10.5reb, 11.7ast (7 games). He has kicked the door down and barged in on the MVP conversation.

I saw highlights from OKC's game. Westbrook exploded like a cannonball, so wonderful to see.

He is such an incredible player.

Yeah, I just saw highlights too and his quickness is ridiculous. I can't imagine how hard it must be to guard him. He's going against a depleted Bulls team tonight and I have no idea who is gonna be on him...it might be 5 straight coming up.

They just showed this on sportscenter, Jordan had 7 straight triple-doubles in 1988-89 (and 10 of 11 games in the same stretch). His stats from those 7 games:

30.6 ppg 11.6 boards 11 assists

Westbrook:

37 ppg 13.5 boards 10.5 assists

I had my first experience at the Staples Center for Blazers @ Clippers last night. I think I may have witnessed Lillard's worst game as a pro. Paul dominated him. But it was still pretty cool because Portland forced OT after being dead with two minutes to go and then won it in OT. Batum had three great lob passes and then a huge 3 in OT after being his usual, enigmatic self in regulation. Ripped the Clips' heart out.

Yep and Russ is up to averaging a 27/7/8 for the season. That's ridiculous. Since 2000 pretty sure only Lebron has had a couple seasons where he reached at least 27/8/7. But Westbrook is also doing it in only 33 minutes a night. Lebron was playing 38-40 minutes a night to reach that line. And he's 6'8" 240! For a 6'3", 190 lbs guy to be doing this is nuts.

And beyond that, what? Pretty sure only Jordan had a more all around dominant season in the modern era . The one you're referencing where he finished with a 32/8/8. Feel like even more than Kobe, Westbrook is the living embodiment of Michael's total lack of conscience on the NBA hardwood.

Also if this is what Westbrook is like full time without Durant, fuck, another purely basketball reason KD needs to come to DC. Can you imagine a full season of Westbrook unleashed without any possible need to defer? Hell, I'd be in favor of giving Westbrook Latvian citizenship and seeing what medal he and 4 stiffs get at the Olympics. I'm thinking at least silver. But really I just want to butter up some popcorn and watch Westbrook relentlessly take on the entire U.S. team for 2 hours.

Hmm I'd vote for RW too, but doesn't OKC's record basically take him out of the race?

Harden (and pretty much anyone recently) has not had this kind of a stretch, but for the season his averages are basically the same as Westbrook's. Add to that the Rockets' great record, and the fact that Harden has done this without Howard and Jones for big chunks of the season.

Again, I want RW to win it as well, but Harden has a stronger case imo. That is, unless Westbrook is able to carry this play for a bit longer. This stretch is reminiscent of recent dominant stretches by eventual MVPs (Durant, Lebron). I just think OKC's record and how close Harden is torpedoes Westbrook's shot at the trophy at the moment.

I'd give it to Russ right now, but that is sympathy coming into play as well.

LeBron has been thoroughly excellent for a good while now, and Curry and Harden have been superb allyear through.

At this point there is no saying who will win this, as MVP over a whole season. There's a lot to be said for Harden's sheer excellence as well, and LeBron has remained an epic powerhouse.

But yeah, I'd want it to go to Westbrook.

Love this idea. Russell going to coast-to-coast over and over, surrounded by 4 bodyguards.

It could be like this:

I mean, granted, it's the Sixers, but did he just outpace his man while dribbling the ball, whilst his man only had to run, only to dunk over two defenders from near the free throw line?

The Brow looked good last night. If Pelicans catch Thunder for the 8 seed, still think Westbrook is MVP?

I think this season - because it's going to be so close that team record is going to be a big factor

In the end it will come down to james/harden/curry/Westbrook.
