Those 32 face off in 16 fights to produce 16 winners and so on, till finally only two are left to fight for one championship.What I have just described is the USA's NCAA (Nation College Athletic Association) Basketball's (men's & women's) National Championship - aka, March Madness.The schedule is roughly as follows:- March 15 is selection Sunday. That's when the 64 (68 - they've expanded - but let's ignore that) are chosen.- March 19 & 20, round 1 is played- March 21 & 22, round 2 is played to yield 16 remaining combatants - the sweet sixteen, as it is known) here.- March 26 & 27, round 3 is played- March 28 & 29, round 4 is played to yield a final four.- April 4, the Final Four all play to yield two championship contenders. Scheduled a day earlier for sanity sake- April 6, the Champion emerges. " " " " " " "I propose we follow that schedule to determine our own ASOIAF champion - The Favorite ASOAIF Character.Pm me your 64 favorite characters in two ranked lists - 32 favorite female characters and 32 favorite males characters, by Sunday night at 8 pm eastern, USA.I will score the lists as follows; 1st place on each list receiving 32 points, 2nd receiving 31 and so on down to 32nd receiving 1 point.Then the seeding takes place. The two genders will remain in separate groups until the final. So for each gender, there are two 16 character pods. 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, 31st in one pod (2 total - one for each gender) and the other will be 2nd, 4rth, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24rth, 26th, 28th, 30th, 32nd.On the Monday after the selection process, the female matches will be posted and voting will start. Those matches will end Thursday night and winners declared. The male half of the matches will be posted Tuesday morning and winners determined on Friday night. Anyone who wants can vote and help determine the winners by posting a vote - only one per player.The Game is done and our champion is crowned. What are your thoughts on pairing each character or faction to a team instead of voting, or do you want that to be a key element? Houses may work well for that, since we know the histories so well there would be clear favourites to align with the top seeds, as well as some potential upsets in the mid range. I'll be watching a lot of basketball this year so it could keep it topical as well as give some impetus to move the game forward, and then we don't get stuck with only 5 votes per round or so. Deadline Sunday night at 8 pm eastern daylight time, USA. * if you can't think of 32 favorite male & 32 female characters, that's fine. A shorter list will help too. This part of the game is to determine who is in the tourney and what their seeding is. So if you only have 10 or 20 characters you care about, send me a list of their names and that alone will give them a very good shot to be in the game. I'm thinking we could find 32 female characters and 32 male characters that are attractive in some voters eyes. However I'm prudish and would rather not include kids. Sansa would be the youngest. My original topic idea was "hotness" - and for that an age limit seemed appropriate.
