billychaz
Hi, I'm new here and just recently got into the GoT universe. I don't have a lot to spend which is why I want to ask If I get the GoT comics, are they the same as the books or should I buy the books instead. Thank you and glad to be here. Andrew Gilfellon
A song of ice and fire not game of thrones. Only one book is called A Game of Thrones, and that's because they didn't want to rename each series after each book. The comics are an adaptation of the books, and the books came before the tv show. Read the books, but be aware the HBO series has been 100% confirmed to be finished before the 6th book of A Song of Ice and Fire
DanielAbraham
The comics are *very* true to the books. A little reordering of chapters, some passages that don't lend themselves to visual representation omitted. But storywise, the comics cleave as close to the books as possible. There's an essay about the process and decisions on it in the Beyond the Wall collection.http://www.smartpopbooks.com/same-song-in-a-different-key/
Darth Richard II
The series is going to be finished before book 6? Wasn;t that an out of context quote that took of on the internet? Not that I'm expecting book 6th this year but I think before the series ends seems reasonable.

Elessar
Get the books, but then get the graphic novel. Aside from a few generic character models it's a pretty decent adaptation. I hope it goes beyond just the first book, the final volume is due in a month or two.Anyone know if they're doing "Clash"?
Andrew Gilfellon
It was just my estimation. We're either going to be into series 6 or 7 before the 6th book is released. And it's already been confirmed HBO will reveal the ending of the series before GRRM
sj4iy
I found the comics boring...too true to the books to really catch me. And I also disliked the pulp style of illustrations used.
Steinman
If you're on a tight budget I'd get the books since the comic series will be quite expensive in total once it's done.
Relic
It's might as well be confirmed. There are at most, like what, four seasons of the show left? tWoW MIGHT be out before then, but the final book has zero chance of being written and published within that time frame. And yes you should get the books. It's not even a question, really.
