Something I noticed in Dany's last ADWD chapter.

So, In Dany's last ADWD chapter, while walking along the stream, she thinks this: "She would have slept beside the water if she dared, but there were animals who came down to the stream to drink at night. She had seen their tracks. Dany would make a poor meal for a wolf or lion, but even a poor meal was better than none."

I know that wolves and lions are common predators but it always struck me as interesting that they were also the sigils of the two main houses conflicting in the series, Starks and Lannisters.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think.

Actually there are only a few places where wolves AND lions were common predators. So yes, it is about symbolism.

Is that stated somewhere in the books? because on earth most of south Asia, south Europe and the Mid East had both, and if you include Americas mountain lions than a more than a few places imo

Mountain lions are no lions.

I fact checked real life. Nowadays they live in different areas but historically there was was a HUGE overlap of areas were both lived.

Lions http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:Lion_distribution.png

But even then lions live rather in hot areas while wolves live in colder ones.
