WoW Audiobook...?

Hey Everyone,
It's my first post here so greetings from Ireland.
This may not be possible to answer but I'm just putting it out there..
Can one assume that Roy Dotrice will be doing an audiobook of WoW whenever it eventually comes out?
If so, how long after the release date would one imagine such and audiobook might be ready.
I realise this is a hypothetical question. I intend to read the book first and then bring the audiobook out flyfishing with me. :D
Many thanks everyone

In the past I'm pretty sure the audio book came out at the same time as the novel so hopefully it'll come out whenever the book is finished. I really hope Roy Dotrice comes back and does WoW, but I guess only time will tell.

Many thanks Mikan, that's good to know.

On my many days on the rivers here in the last few years I have gotten used to Roy in my headphones. Would love to have WoW for next season. (being optimistic here :P )

I listened to his audiobook for ADWD, and I thought it was great. Looking forward to hearing him narrate TWOW as well.

I would imagine so, he's done all 5 so far plus the World of Ice and Fire.

John Lee has also done Feast and Dance (and another guy I think has done one of them - Ted Stoddard - he was even worse than Lee). However due to fan pressure they re-recorded with Dotrice as most people didn't like the other narrators.

Not all of Roy's voices are great, some are awful but he brings the books alive, the other guys are pretty bad and monotone.

Roy's getting on though so obviously depends on when they are released, recording maybe 50-60 hours of book isn't as easy as it might seem. Probably takes a couple of weeks.

If its not Dotrice then I would think it will be given to Ian Glenn. He's done the two novellas set during the Dance of the Dragons. Did a really good job but he wouldn't be able to do as many different voices as Dotrice.

King rereleased The Stand on some auspicious anniversary, 20th, 25th, something, with a full cast playing each character. He had Mullen doing much of his mid way stuff and that guy rocked. (Frank Mullen did the 1st three Dark Tower books--breathtaking performance) Dotrice floored me with his range. Yeah, there was a Jeffrey here and there but he is the voice of Ice and Fire to me. His Brienne is great. His Lannister accents are better than the actors on the show. Who knows? Maybe when all the books are finally written the show cast will record the books?

Thanks a million guys. Personally I love Dotrice's work. He really makes the audiobook come alive which is far more important to me than a perfect pronunciation reading. His Daenerys voice is hilarious though :drunk:
Euron, I usually don't listen to anything except the sound of running water when I'm on the river. I make an exception in this case though.
I listened to the whole series last fishing season and the same the season before.
Toffejay, I must check out his WoIaF audiobook. Thank you

Ian Glenn?! I'd be totally fine with that. His voice is just glorious.

Reekfish I'd imagine he would, especially since he did the WoIaF audio, I was worried when Iain Glen did the novellas (although he was very good), and it will come out the same day as the book, always does.

Only possible problem is Roy turns 92 next month so for multiple, obvious reasons we can't really count on it til it's actually released (well I guess once it's recorded, sometime prior to the release, but you know what I mean.

I assume you mean Frank Muller? And yeah he's spectacular, probably my favorite reader, and him doing King is just the best...but I've never even heard of a full cast version of the Stand on audio, with him or otherwise, you have a link to where I can buy/hear it? Muller doing The Stand is to like the Holy Grail of audiobooks.

That last sentence, by the by, is officially the nerdiest thing I've ever, ever said.

I also just remembered-Frank Muller is actually the reader on one version of GRRM's "The Hedge Knight", and since he retired in '01 after a motorcycle accident (died as a result in '08, very sad) I assume it was released back when that was originally published. Despite not having an English accent he did a GREAT job (shocking), you all should check that out.

Cottonseed--yes, I meant Frank Muller, sorry, feels like I haven't listened to anything else since beginning The Ice and Fire madness. This full cast The Stand was available on Audible, it was a 20th or 25th anniversary release with extended chapters cut from the original story. It was great--all the main characters had their own voice. I didn't remember Muller reading The Stand, but there are many versions so maybe I can go check some of the earlier releases, but his Dark Tower was hands down the best ever. That's sort of how I came to admire Roy Dotrice so much...Dark Tower was huge, but Ice and Fire is Epic. Now had I heard Muller do Ice and Fire...that would have been something. I had no idea Dotrice was so er mature--that makes me admire him even more. And his Dany was a lot of fun to listen to. I'll be sure to check for The Hedge Knight, thanks for the tip.

Roy Dotrice did an excellent job in the TWOIAF. Audible version. There is another narrator also - Nicholas Guy Smith.

I did not like his narrations. He does the paragraphs separated by the long lines in the book version. He talked too fast and it seemed muffled to me.

I wonder perhaps if they are setting it up for Nicholas Smith to do WoW. I hope not.
