April Fools' Day Pranks

Perhaps some of you need some ideas for pranks to pull tomorrow, perhaps some of you pulled some great pranks, or had a good one put over on you.

Sunday night at dinner a friend told me about a prank she pulled on a colleague at work. He had a brand new expensive car parked out in the employee parking lot. She put a note on his car that simply said "I'm really sorry for what I did".

My friend did nothing to the car. Her colleague was a well known prankster. He freaked out so badly, even calling the police, that she never admitted what she did...

My favourite April 1st news story of recent years was the one last year in one of the UK papers about how the National Trust was struggling to find enough volunteers to move one standing stone in each of the UK's stone circles to correct them for daylight saving.

Back in elementary school I was that kid who brought in Oreos filled with toothpaste. I haven't done any pranks in the past few years though and I probably won't this year. I haven't got any good ideas :P

I'm hoping people take the No Prank Pledge.

hey this drink has no liquor..

Someone did this to me once, not realizing that I was a recovered alcoholic. So, probably only a prank to pull on someone who you know has a desire to drink, and if they have a desire to drink, they desire a drink at that very moment.

A couple years ago I drew a fake tattoo on my face of the logo of this local company that is sort of one of father's rival, along with a sexualized 'typo' of their slogan. Then I took a selfie and sent it to him with the text "I got drunk and something stupid".

It took a few months before he admitted it was a pretty good one.

I usually play some kind of prank on my dad each year, he's usually wise to it but the last few years I think his reflexes are slipping because I've got him like four years running.

My friend went on vacation during the week of April Fool's day...mistake. So we (a coworker and myself) taped up his entire cubicle from top to bottom and filled it with boxes and boxes of packing peanuts that we ordered. The look on his face when he walked in later was simply amazing. It took him hours to dig out his desk and days to get rid of them all.

Before anyone gets on my case, he was the company prankster. He wrapped everything on my desk in aluminum foil when I went on vacation, and filled a coworker's office with inflated balloons. We worked together to prank my boss (who was British) by redecorating his office in everything French. So it was a give-get thing.

How many volunteers are needed?

I suppose I'm the resident misery guts, but I detest this day. And I detest you all for liking it. Judgeyjudge.

Am with you, Drac.

I don't like pranks in general 99% of the time I think they're mean spirited and to have a day dedicated to it is bizarre to say the least.

I think very few pranks are mean-spirited. Some cross the line, but most are harmless and fun for everyone.

Yeah, I don't agree with Chaldanya at all. I've only played them on people I know really well, because I know how they're going to react. The last thing you want to do is play a prank on someone who can't take it or someone who is not fond of pranks, but amongst my group of friends, we prank each other all the time.

I had a friend who hid 5 or 6 small alarm clocks in my apartment, they went off at different times, from about 5 am to 7 am on a weekend. That was an excellent one.

Any more ideas about an office prank that won't get me fired?

Plug a wireless mouse into a spare USB slot (preferably at the back where they can't see it)

try not to click anything though, but feel free to move the mouse around at appropriate times. - don't do it for too long mind and it helps if you can see the screen.

After this I'll bow out because it doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the thread. But think about the reaction you are trying to provoke from a prank - annoyance, frustration, fright - or you are doing it to prove that someone is gullable. To me all of those are negative things to provide you with amusement therefore, I consider pranks to be mean-spirited.
