John Stark Azor Ahai

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been talked about, but John's killing (not proven but we can assume) of Ygritte (his lover kissed by fire) haunts and pains him ever since the battle of the Night Fort. Is this John fulfilling the prophecy, the way Azor Ahai tempered his sword in the heart of his wife?

I mean, the Night's Watch oath says

I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men

Literally he is a sword, a fire burning against the cold and bringing the light.

We know that by taking the oath, there is Magic in it (only a brother could go through the magic weirwood gate under the wall). And we know that the magic is of the old gods, the same ones that John honored under the weirwood grove when he said his vows. Plus he's a Stark, which brings additional implications to his position with the ancient magic of the old gods and the wall (build by Bran the Builder).

I am pretty Jon saw that the fletching on the arrow that killed Ygritte was not one of his.

If you mean that he killed her in a metaphorical sense that NW is lightbringer and as LC he is AA and was able to temper the "sword" by killing Ygritte, sure, we won't ever know until the end.

It's a cool theory and fun to think about bc I am a fan of Jon, the NW, and everything going on up there.
