Shadowbinders are evil ?

Do you think the shadowbinders may be evil ?

- They originates from Asshai by the shadow , which is a dark place.

- Melisandre who is a shadowbinder can give birth to shadow babies

- Shadow babies are not exacly good things

So maybe the shadowbinders are users of dark magic and are actually worshipers of darkness.

Whats your toughts ?

Bonus question: Do you think it's possible to raise an army of shadows ?

I think people are too quick to judge 'good' and 'evil' in this story. They aren't so black and white. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but does that automatically make a person evil?

As with everything, it's in how you use it. Surely there are good, bad and in-between shadowbinders.

A horsefaced girl: no. Shade and shadow are not equivalent so far as we know in this series.

Thoros is a priest of the Red God who only recently found his religion, and can now bring people back. Shadowbinders come from Asshai (presumably they study at the Asshai'i Holistic Technical Institute to learn) and don't seem to belong to one religion exclusively. MMD seems to have been a shadowbinder and she didn't follow R'hllor. Quaithe is also a shadowbinder--though we haven't seen her do a thing with shadows--and no mention has been made of her religion. Coming from a place like Asshai it makes sense that shadowbinders would mostly be R'hllorists but we don't know that all shadowbinders are native to Asshai. They could come from anywhere.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I think Shadowbinders are possessed by the ancient, demonic things that howl in those lands north of Asshai, you know, where all the deformed dragons still skulk in caves. I think the reason they wear a mask is to hide how grotesque and frightening their faces have become, until they master glamor properly.

I wouldn't say it's good or evil, though the concept of them definably feels more creepy and corrupted than the Others and Old gods to me.

I think there are two camps: good shadowbinders, and bad ones. Or perhaps rather good and evil. Though I'm sure the degree of talent also varies.

Shadow army: possible but would take some other method than Mel uses.

definately. Someone needs to invent the C section

Shadow binders are people so I'm sure they come in all shades.... haha

I have a question; is Thoros a shadowbinder? What he did to Beric bringing him back from death, is that considered shadowbinding? Returning a persons shade to their body?

Heh, shades.

I think that not all Red Priests are shadowbinders and not all shadowbinders are Red Priests. In fact, Melisandre might be the only one who does both. Shadowbinders seem to connected exclusively to Asshai, while Red Priests tend to be from further west.

How do you know all shadowbinders worship that satanic faith?

Because the Church of Starry Wisdom is the worst thing happened to the world and the shadowbinders managed to become without exception the worst lot in a place like Asshai.
