King17
I know we haven't met willas yet but based of what we have heard about him so far do you think he would make a good hand of the king?
Olenna'sCheese
we haven't met will as yet Not sure if you mean "Willas yet" or "Will as yet" in which case we have as he was our first ever POV ;) From what we've heard, Willas does seem like he'd be an excellent choice for Hand, but for the fact he's crippled and the Tower of the Hand has loads of steps. Oh well, it's burnt to a crisp anyway. He reminds me a lot of his brother Lord Garlan in character, if not prowess. Seems very honourable yet shrewd, as a grandson of Olenna would be. He also seems a generally nice guy, and is apparently kind and forgiving. He became a friend of Oberyn (hard enough as is, for a Tyrell) even after Oberyn crippled him as he realised it wasn't his fault. He seems everything that Mace should be. Perhaps too soft hearted to be Hand, although we haven't heard enough to suggest this. Could fall into the same trap as Ned and end up being too honourable, but I don't find that likely. Lady Catherine
Excellent choice. He looks like a smart guy, but I don't think that this fortunate event will ever happen. Bad luck for the 7K =(
James Arryn
He sounds like a lovely person. I wonder how he'll die.

EastTymor
Why have Willas when you can have Mace? Could Willas come up with a hand-shaped throne for the Hand?
Dire-Lion
I actually don't know if Willas would make a great hand of the king. He reminds me of Hamlet a bit...he would think too much about things instead of just doing something.

JonCon's Red Beard
He would be better than his father, that's for sure. Damn, everybody would be better than his father. Even the cook. He sounds like a lovely person. I wonder how he'll die. He also seems to be handsome. He will die cruelly after something that disfigures his face happens to him. BalerionTheCat
We already have a few who would be good Hands: Davos, Tyrion, Jorah, even Mance I dare say. To be a good Lord, to be intelligent and educated, is not sufficient to be a good Hand. You need to have the confidence and support of other Lords and whoever matter, to be fair and just. Willas is completely unknown to us. And apparently to others also (he seems to stay at Highgarden). Maybe Willas will develop into something later. But nothing, IMHO, suggests he will become a Hand. Dya of Oldstones
We don't know enough about him, and I can't remember if he's referred to anywhere in the books aside from Magaery's sales pitch to Sansa when they wanted her to marry him. I really like the Tyrells in general, but they're also fairly ruthless and ambitious...if Littlefinger is still involved with them to any degree, all bets are off. Bosfan
Littlefinger refers to him as "gentle, pious Willas Tyrell" when speaking to Sansa and that says something. Plus GRRM recently said that he likes him and Garlan, so we shall see.
Balerion the kitten
The fact he can be friends with someone who's cultural is met with prejudice by his family and kingdom says a lot about his character. Also how can forgive the man who crippled him when no one else would.Someone like him would be well suited for the role of hand. He seems to be able to put rivalries behind him, from what we've heard he is well suited for the position of Lord, is a nice person and from LF description he doesn't seem to have any personal motives (like petyr). If you're right, will you change your nickname into Bad Guy Garlan ? ;) And now the only question that remains is: Who is better as Hand Willas or the cook? That's different. Theon wants to die. Though I also say that Garlan is a goner. A second son, trains by fighting multiple people, just receive his very own keep, and (as far as we know) does not have a child of his own yet. He's doomed. Aren't Willas and Garlan suppose to have a bigger role in the future.
lyannaisalive
Queen of thorns "Not the least bit oafish." I think the fact she thinks that says enough about itself. Olenna is basically the female Tywin, that statement should hold a lot of weight IMO
