I just don't think Stannis has enough men to take Winterfell. He needs White Harbor's support, and that all depends on how Davos will do on his mission to Skago and, obviously, Justin Massey isn't going to be back with 20,000 sellswords before the Battle ensues. Plus, the Boltons have an advantage behind the walls of Winterfell. I just can't see this going Stannis's way. What are your guy's opinions on this Battle? Who will win and why? We see his iron will at work like never before on his super forced march to Winterfell, and he stops at a small town some ways from WF for seemingly no reason. Also keep in mind he has given orders to fortify the surroundings and made sure he camps them by a lake. He is also giving orders for people to proceed "even if they hear he has fallen", which means he has a plan for the long run. You are right about the story though; I think that although Bolton might win, Martin obviously has plans for the future of Stannis. Dying in the upcoming Battle will have a profound affect on the Azor Ahai theory in that he isn't the legendary figure. You are right about Stannis; he's nothing if not iron willed. Good spots as well! I like to think that he has a plan A, B and C up his sleeve. He wouldn't just march directly on Winterfell with all his forces. But Roose is cunning as well, and will be a strong opponent, especially with the Freys backing him. IdoTheChoombi Posted April 18, 2015 Share Posted April 18, 2015 given roose decided to send 1/3 of his force and ramsay on a suicide mission, i bet on stannis.in any event, there would be 2 battles of ice, one crofter's village with ramsay, the freys, and manderlys(who would likely go turncloack during it) vs stannis, in which i'm 90% sure stannis will win.and then two in winterfell, vs roose and the northeners, on this i'm still betting on stannis, but i wouldn't be too surprised if roose prevails. Bran will speak through the tree & tell Theon about the secret passage detailed in Bran's 'fall' chapter from AGoTs. That's interesting, although are you that certain Stannis won't burn Theon? I know Asha pleaded for a beheading, but surely Stannis will give Theon to the flames to appease the Mountain Clans and excite his own men? Plus, I don't think Stannis is likely to believe that a heart tree spoke to Theon, let alone spare him for it. Unless Asha does something about it, Theon will die in the next book.
